Welcome to The University of Louisiana, Coach Willis. Glad to have you on board! Looking forward to seeing a good D at Cajun Field.
But the country really noticed when they kicked the crap out people week after week. A good record is great and some will notice. Start beating everyone 55-10 week in and week out, everyone will notice. And beat the big boys when you have the chance. You need defense to have lopsided victories.
I agree with everything you said.
The day Boise State replaced UL in the Big West they had a plan. They would play (a well calculated) anyone anywhere as long as they came back to Boise for a return game.
The wins came first then the blowouts.
Hud has UL on a similar track, the schedule owes him the even playing field of home-n-home.
After being out of college football for two seasons, former NFL linebacker and ex-Texas Tech defensive coordinator James Willis calls himself "very blessed" and "very fortunate" to be back in.

One played in the NFL, the other did not.
Still, speaking of UL Ragin' Cajuns head coach Mark Hudspeth, new UL defensive coordinator James Willis can't help but sense some similarities between the two.

The right choice??? Thoughts???
I trust in Hud. I'm sure he will make the right decision.
The guy's resume seems solid and ditto about trusting HUD
Hud hired him after doing quite a bit of due dilegence ... that is good enough for me.
Alabama fans I work with speak highly of him and beleive we made a good hire.
