As far as I know, Lovie Smith is still looking for a job. Just saying.

Just a note: Thanks Coach Stewart.

Love the job you did on Florida.

And Lance Guidry isn't? 13ish straight years of high school coaching (including Mcneese state because thats what they are) and 3 years of program hopping in college.

Terry has 30 years of high school, 3 early in his career at USL. Graduated from here. Hard nosed man. Wonderful man as well as a wonderful family.

I was just giving an option, it seems like yall think we're entitled to getting Manny Diaz or something

If you think any high school coach is an option for us, then I don't believe you think highly of our program.

Guidry has proved he can be an effective DC at the college level. Now if an accomplish high school guy wants to be a position coach here...I'm fine with that but we are in a position to get guys who have proven themselves at the college level.

I would hope to get at least a DC with past success at an level of school similar to UL or a young position coach at an AQ school who may want to pad a resume as a DC.

Agree. And just like other high school coaches, Lance does know the area. He's coached at the high school and college level in south Louisiana. He did a dang good job with WKU's defense. But whatever works for Hud, works for me.

It's not that he may not be a good, or great coach .. I don't know. But, just as with Hud, there is a minimum criteria for Defensive Coordinator and I believe one of the criteria will proabaly be having prior college coaching experience; along with Hud having a working relationship with him.

That is why he won't be considered. Don't take it personally.

I think you just proved our point. High shcool to div 1AA to div 1A proving himself with success with each step up the ladder. If you remember, he could not make the jump strait from McNeese to Tennessee, but went to Miami of Ohio and coached an 11 or 12 win team. Then Western with a top 25 D this year. As CajunT says, he has earned his stripes at this level. Not only is our program past hiring a high school coach, our assisstants coaches are above getting passed over in the pecking order for a high school coach.
Absolutely NO WAY we will hire an unproven college coach, much less someone that is not even HEAD COACH in high shcool.

This is a more sensible reply. I know Terry won't be chosen as DC, but I take it personally when RP blowhards call my opinion " a joke" and question my view of this program.

Rebowe gets the job and Roth from Rummel gets the LBs and box guys---Well I would at least think that Rebowe would apply for the position unless HUD wants a big shakeup like defensive assistants---many times part of the deal is to bring in some of the coordinators own guys----I would like to see us get a big name guy out of NO---just whom that might be I don't know but thought that someone like Roth would be pretty good!!!

Wonder when was the last time a hand picked coach was fired after helping your team win its bowl games two years in a row, especially after the said team hadn't been in a bowl game in what, 40 years?
