LAFAYETTE- Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s tennis team improved to 6-5 on the season after defeating Tennessee Tech 6-1 on Wednesday.
Louisiana took five of the six singles matches. The only loss came at No. 6 after Ryan Hess fell to James Bennett 6-2, 6-1. The match marked Hess’ first of the season.
Piotrek Banas defeated Tiago Gilioli 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1, and Shaun Ellison topped Borja Zarco 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2.
Jorge Delgado recorded a 6-3, 6-1 victory over the Golden Eagles’ Alexander Ilyakhian at No.3, while Arlen Domoney defeated Louis Steyn 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4. Zack Taylor defeated Juan Gomez 7-5, 6-2 at No. 5.
The Cajuns picked up the doubles point after winning at Nos. 1 and 3.
The team of Banas and Ellison defeated Gilioli and Ilyakhian 8-4 at No. 1, while Domoney and Hess and Tabak topped Gomez and Bennett 8-4 at No. 3.
The team of Delgado and Domoney fell to Zarco and Steyn 8-0 at No. 2.
The Cajuns also defeated Lamar 4-3 on Tuesday. The match was a makeup from last week’s rain out.
The Cajuns host Austin Peavy State on Thursday, March 8. Matches are set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
