Thread: My Marlin Defense

    Ragin' Cajuns My Marlin Defense

I know lots of you on this board are not high on Marlin, especially after getting extension. But after this game tonight I want to take up for the man. I have never seen him so passionate on and off the court before. Several times after big shots made by Elfrid, he ran out to court to congratulate him. He was in the officials face all night long yelling and taking up for his team(a couple times I thought he was gonna be tossed) Yes I know some players have left team for reasons we may not know, but I believe in this coach and this particular group of players he has. They are a fun group of young men to watch and I really believe next year at this time we will be at a very good place.

    Happy New Year

----His post game interview was quite impressive as he spoke of protecting his kids and insults given by #13 after an official's warning about jive talk between the teams----As intense of a defensive effort as I have seen in a long time---Damn Nikita losing Colby really hurt---we would be tough with him---but a fun game with the wife and the group of ex band dudes!!!!

Yeah, the crowd was bad. I was there but wasn't able to sit with the students -- didn't look like there were many there anyway. I haven't been able to make many games yet but I hope to be at more as the season goes on.

Last night was another glimpse of what we can expect from Marlin...IF he can get a few more quality kids into the program. The man can coach. We just need to see if he can recruit and keep the kids that come here.

As far as the crowd, I'm been watching several games on TV over the last 3 or 4 weeks...and the crowds at most of those games have been pretty sparse. Michigan played on TV last week and I would bet there were not 5,000 people. I've seen some games...mid-major AND higher profile teams...where there were not 3,000 people in the stands. Our crowd issue is not unique to us.

A couple years ago when we won the West with the winning streak, we had some real nice crowds. (6K to 8K if I remember correctly) So the people are there. We just need to stay competitive and build some excitement with these young players.

What did that kid from UALR say to him to get him fired up? Anyone know?
