Since we don't get to pick the time of year or the weather, I choose the New Orleans Bowl from here on out until we make it to the Sugar Bowl. I want to play close to home and inside a dome at this time of year. So to me, that means New Orleans, Houston, Dallas. Anything else would end up being a bunch of us dudes heading out and leaving most of the wives behind.

The Louisiana Boardwalk area on the river in bossier where they have the parade, pep rally, battle of the bands etc is pretty cool with lots of reataurants bars, and shops

They had a parade at the Bass Pro Shops. Seriously, THAT'S what you do when you go to Shreveport. You go to the Bass Pro Shops.

You can't do anything near the stadium, including tailgating, unless you have an affinity for catching bullets with your teeth.

The words "Independence Bowl" and "prestigious" should never be used in the same sentence.

Was said bowl game perhaps more "prestigious" when it was sponsored by Poulan Weedeater and was lovingly referred to as the "Weedwhacker Bowl"?

Or was it "traditionally more prestigious" when it pitted the Southland Conference champ against an at-large opponent?

Or how about more recently... sponsored by what appears to be a pyramid health scheme?

Maybe it was "traditionally more prestigious" because it has been played at a crap-tastic stadium that sits across the road from a smelly-azz refinery in a town that sold its soul for federal block grants and casino quick-fixes?

The Independence Bowl has traditionally been a bowl of last resort for most programs.

I never want to see UL play in Shreveport. For any reason.
