Abbeville Police Investigating Homicide

An Abbeville man was found murdered in his South Lamar Street home Thursday.  Family members identify the victim as 25 year old Darrell Broussard (pictured).  Broussard's own mother made the grim discovery.

"She saw a footprint on the door and the door was kicked in," said Abbeville City Councilman Wayne Landry, who is also a Broussard family friend.  "As she walked in the house she saw droplets of blood in the living room and as she walked toward the back room she saw her son laying on the floor face down in a puddle of blood."

Abbeville police classified the case as a homicide, but would not release how Broussard was killed.  His death marks the eight homicide investigation for the Abbeville Police Department this year.

Fed up with the recent spike in violence, Broussard's friend Lawrence Levy is planning a march and rally to take back the streets.  The event will be held Saturday, December 29th at 11:00 a.m. on Dutel Street in Abbeville.
