_ The way it works with Pilgreen is, now that the season is over, he petitions the NCAA for a sixth year. He'll need to turn in all of his medical reports documenting his two surgeries and also send in his transcript.

Usually, the first thing the NCAA looks at is, does the player have his degree (after five years)...the answer there is yes for Pilgreen.

I personally believe that, if he applies, he'll get it. But that's his choice whether or not to do it. _

Any idea what the deadline is for that application to be filed and when might a response from the NCAA be forthcoming?

Having him back in the bullpen would assure (IMO) Danny being a starter next year, but maybe having Pilgreen back is not a prerequisite for that.

In any case having Pilgreen back would be awesome!

How is Buddy doing?

I would imagine that he will be drafted, but sure would love to have him back for next year. I think he has some unfinished business here. Whatever he decides, we love him.

Danny, Hunter, Buddy and Zolich as potential starters with one headed to the pen....... Pilgreen and T-Robe also in the pen....... and I'm sure Sr-Robe has some new arms being groomed for mid-week games.... thats a heck of a place to start on the mound.... experience at every position coming back..... Luke and Jefferies will be missed to be sure but I'm confident that we will be very good in 08..... VERY good.... Guess we will need to be a #5 or better RPI to be assured of hosting with those nuckleheads...... future is very bright.........

_ You can add Corey Chapman,Broussard and Wagley to the bullpen. Drayton Marze is rated in the top 40 MLB pro prospects in Louisiana. Griffen and Benzel are the highest rated bats coming in, Griffen being a top 10 draft prospect in Louisiana. We need a couple of bats for next season or hope that the younger kids develop; Hicks, Derouen, Guillory, Begnaud and Whipple. _

Supposedly this Marze kid throws low to mid 90s. If we can get away with him and the Barbe kid not leaving for the draft, then that would definitely be a good thing.

_ I would expect that Lil Robe and Harmon would fill in nicely in the bully taking AL and MP's places...Our middle infield will see X moving to replace Bourque and Long taking over at SS permanently...I would think that Hatfield might see more playing time in left, or right with Gisclair going to left...and we already know we have a 3rd baseman...and as for 1st, perhaps lil robe will fill in there too.

What about Grant Derouen at 3rd and Matt Hicks at 2nd.....isn't that their more natural position anyway??? Long at short.....hopefully he finds his swing.....and put Gisclair, Logan, and Hatfield in the OF.

What do we do with X and his bat???

Well I'm sure Coach Robe will work this all out.....seems to be a good problem to have.

We will need X in the lineup next year. Plus he will be a Senior. He needs to work a little on his defense. Long has not proved his self at the plate and will have to do so before he gets his chance to play. I like X at short, Hicks at second, and Derouen at third.

Either way they line 'em up, all four have a long way to go before they can be considered in the same sentence aas the 03/04 and oven 05 teams. The cajuns are likely gonna have some things set up for them next season, like the experienced hitting and pitching, leadership, taste of the postseason, etc. But they'll end next season just like they ended this season if the infielders all go out there with springs in their gloves. I hope they use the summer to really lock down their gloves, cause we'll need it.
