Baseball RPI, when do they come Out? I'd be curious to see what ours is if we keep up this undefeated streak.

I don't know about RPI, but the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll has us at #29
In this same poll, Florida Atlantic is #28 with a 10-2 record and Troy is receiving votes with a 7-3 record. Florida Atlantic was definately a great addition to the SunBelt as far as baseball is concerned.
Somebody from Lafayette sent in a question to Baseball America and asked esentially why we aren't in their poll and the response was that we haven't played anybody, although they still pick us to win the SunBelt.
If we can beat Tech and Northwestern this week and go to Southern Miss and take 2 of 3 from them, we would be 12-1 and would garner a lot of respect from around the country.
Was it just me or did Illinois hit the tar out of the ball. Even in the Friday night game, they really tore into Moody. I know he only gave up 1 run, but they hit a lot of balls hard and we were fortunate to be in then right spot to defend. I don't know where they were picked in the Big 10, but they have a good hitting club and hopefully they do damage elsewhere to boost our RPI.
You mean WHEN we beat Tech and Northwestern State. Also, how bout we go to Southern Miss and sweep, then we'll get some attention.Originally Posted by cajunproud
Illinois can hit and hit very well. Moody pitched 5 innings, one hit, no runs.Originally Posted by cajunproud

For the RPI to be effective you need a reasonable number of games to have been played. Boyd Nation usually begins publishing his estimate of the NCAA RPI formula in the first or second week of March.Originally Posted by Sid
To give you an example, Louisiana is currently #59 in the Base RPI calculation (calculated by SEBaseball.com). This does not include any of the bonuses or penalties added to the base formula by the NCAA. Meanwhile, Lafayette is currently #2 having only played two games thus far. Toledo is #3, Davidson is #4, and Furman is #5. This latest edition of the Base RPI includes games played through Saturday 2/24.
In the meantime, Paul Kislanko at SEBaseball.com was playing around with what he considers an improved RPI formula (not necessarily what the NCAA uses). It is dubbed RPI2. The Top 25 looks much more reasonable than that of the Base RPI. But more games are still needed. Lafayette is #1 in the latest edition. The Cajuns come in at #8. Southern Mississippi is #13 and Troy is #18. This does not include Sunday's Troy win over Southern Mississippi.

Marketing the Louisiana based school asUL Lafayette was and is such a huge non calculation mistake.

You have to remember these fans are very fickle. You have to say there name right or they get mad. remember they are very petty about this. if i was you i would just call the USL.. See if that gets em stirred up some more..
I thought that Harmon pitched well also. Four innings of work out of the bullpen can be tough this early in the year. He was very effective until he got tired in the ninth. How about the relief job that Zorich did on Saturday!!Originally Posted by Dad04

"Well we don't go by that", "That's NOT our real name", "Well nobody really calls us that", "but its IN BR not AT BR", blah, blah, blah.
