Thread: vs. UNT

I've said it once and I'll say it again. This is not Lee's fault. We were in the game the entire way through. The reason we lost in 90% of the games that we lost this year was due to player mistakes, not coaching. I've said it all year long that we would have 10 more wins if we only SHOT BETTER FROM THE FREE THROWLINE!!! Even with the large amount of turnovers we've had this season, our free throw shooting has been downright atrocious. There's no better example of what I'm talking about than last night's game. You want to blame this loss (or this losing season for that matter)? You can blame it on our inexperience that resulted in turnovers and the fact that we can't buy a basket at the free throw line. Coach Lee doesn't deserve this animosity and criticism. He's kept us in a position to win nearly every game this season. That's all you can ask of a coach. The rest has to come from the players' talent and heart.

If you think this is all a bunch of B.S. then you must also think that Duke's very own Coach K is to blame for their down season as well. Coach K is still a great coach. It's his players that aren't living up to their potential. Same goes with Lee. I've seen what his team can do when they put their heart and soul into the game and have concentration at the foul line. This program will rebound and we'll get there again. And if you don't think that Lee can do it then you are seriously mistaken.

What type of Coach Robert Lee is will be told in the next two seasons when he will have his entire recruiting class of last year and this one on the court. Yes, more talent will come aboard. Hopefully the free throw shooting also improves. Did someone say we llost 7 games by 4 points or less. I think the 7 are Call State Fullerton, UNO, UNT, McNeese, FAU, FIU, and UNT again. Of course we won a few close ones too. We are all dissapointed in this year but I am not surprised due to all the youth we had. Keep in mind that at crunch time we had three true freshman on the court in many of these games. I understand people may be concerned that we will be young again next year with the guys who sat out seeing their first action. If the indoor facility is completed by summer though, it will give them an opportunity to work together and get familiar with their teammates. Also, these guys have played AAU together in the past. Guys like Blaine Harmon, Lonnie Thomas, and Anthony Johnson performed OK in their first year after having to sit out to get eligible. Their is no reason to believe these guys won't do the same. We just need to get a few free throws to fall.

    Doesn't that explain it all?
Nice try. But, Jerry Baldwin was a far better D1 head football coach than Mineshaft could ever hope to be a good drool bucket.

20 loss season is 20 loss season. Can't get around that fact. 3 years ago when Lee was hired I don't think anyone believed two seasons later would be 20 loss season. Duke is having a down year, but has not fallen apart completely. The only reason the Cajuns are more competitive in recent games is because sunbelt is so bad and the team is improving a little. There is apparently more talent on the way and perhaps Lee can learn how to be a better coach as he goes along on this 5 year contract. As a long-time Cajuns basketball fan, yes I do expect a lot more out of our coach than simply keep us close in games against some of the lesser teams in the country.

    Z. Febreeze is not enough. I, recommend a Lysol cleanout. (I am putting that very mildly)
