Hopefully we still clear some profit from this. What we produced in New Orleans rivals anybody anywhere in the country. I don't give a damn how close we are to New Orleans. Alot of teams are close to there bowl games and don't produce like us.
I wasn't defending Farmer in this thread. I was just trying to make it clear he voted against the bowl revenue sharing deal because in this and other threads people were under the impression he voted for it.
As far as other threads are concerned I feel Farmer tends to get slammed for things he doesn't deserve to get slammed for. For example he gets blamed for not doing enough to raise our budget but since he's been here the budget has gone from about about 12 million dollars to 15 million dollars and he's taken some great steps to increase it further. He also gets most of the blame on here for us not us not getting into C-USA. There is a false narrative people like to bring up that Farmer is perfectly content with the SBC and did nothing to lobby C-USA. Some believe the only reason we didn't get into C-USA is because Farmer didn't beg them enough. Of course the reason we didn't get in is because we didn't have the budget or media market that C-USA desires it's members to have. That's why UTSA, a Southland school with a 2 year old football program was chosen before any Sun Belt schools were. Plus there is literally zero evidence Farmer "did nothing" and plenty of evidence to the contrary.
If you want to criticize him for a lack of communication with fans, especially during a tumultuous time when fans need to hear something from their "leader," I think that's a more than valid criticism. If you want to criticize him for giving Marlin an extension and pay raise I completely understand. But some of the things he gets criticized for are ridiculous.
I don't think we're asking for him to publically trash the SBC. Most of what we heard from Scott (until the Buckley interview) was that the SBC was the place for us to be. I suppose we would have liked to hear what he said in TB's interview much sooner. Much more action, and a lot less reaction.
Like I said in my earlier post I agree that Farmer's communication with the fanbase has been poor. That Buckley interview should have taken place a year ago. Better yet he shouldn't have had to wait for a reporter to drag all this info out of him. He should have come out with an open letter or a press release on his own outlining UL's position on conference realignment and what he was doing to put UL in a better position.
Yes.
But it was kind of like picking up a chick at the bar. You use your best lines but she was never interested in you because she heard from a friend how small your media market was. Then she walks up to FIU and FAU. They're both fat and ugly but they have enormous media markets. She's just one of those girls who likes a big media market. So all you can do is go home and curse the fact that you were born with such a tiny media market.
Or, make sure you are buff, and not the slightest bit unkept. Plain and simple he talks in vagaries and obscure vision of what he wants. It is not enough to say I want to be a stud, you have to get in the gym even if you are only 5'7".
RCAF is a great gym to workout in, but you still gotta hit the free weights. I get the feeling he is walking around looking at a lot of mirrors.
Don't play me with that BS, son. Tech doesn't have 20 million dollars in their athletic budget, they got in by stretching the truth. We weren't prepared for all this...then they were stunned that people were ____ed when we got passed over..HAHA!! Look, we might have one more shot...maybe.. It doesn't happen, you and your buddies will have Cajun Field all to your self.. Just so I'll know next time I walk into Corner Bar on Friday afternoon.. which side of the table do you sit on??

Somehow there is a Sigmund Freud theory in this posting!
