While in general that may be true.....I think the shake up in the Big East in directly related to the addition of Tulane and their lack of performance on the field.

Would that be true if we get added to the Big XII....dunno....I think we can hang with the middle tier (right now) and of course in the years to come the sky is the limit.

Al of this Big 12 bs is about having a "plan" ... this plan has NOTHING to do with whom you beat yesterday but has EVERYTHING to do with WHERE DO YOU WANT TO BE IN 10 YEARS ... if you dream small, you stay small. Do you really want to be in a cusa where every year they are changing their members? Or the Big East ... which may not even exist in a year? If we are going to have a Master Plan and we want to grow this University, let's aim high. NOTHING that has happened over two years ago matters; that is old history from another school ... we are now the LOUISIANA RAGIN' CAJUNS and we want to play with the big boys.

At the same time, recruit new RCAF members and do a major season ticket drive while momentum is hot. We just might get lucky with more conference realignment changes taking place and get a new conference invite that would also be introduced at this event. All of that coming together at one time is not that far fetched and would be an unbelievable shot in the arm for UL athletics. And, oh yeah, UL is now branding itself as Louisiana, as in the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. More to come from UL.
You have a very good idea here ... and we do it with as soon before Nat. Signing Day to give the coaches some more ammo!

I think that is the answer to all our questions. Have been thinking this way for awhile now. Forget about all that other crap, budget etc, clear your minds and beat the so call money game teams, come home and say, "who's next". That will get you notice big time...

I have to disagree a little bit that winning on the field has nothing to do with you getting in a bigger conference. Do you not think that the Big East didn't notice Boise State winning. They are 112th TV market with a population of 262,290. Lafayette, LA 123 with 230,670. Now the other schools yes it is about TV market, but that is not the only criteria.

The Big 12 isnt going to use the 20 million as a reason to bring us in . What are we doing to make us attractive to them without the 20 mil???

Guys, let's be honest with ourselves here. I don't care if you think CUSA is not a big step up right now.... but there is no way in hell we get an invite from the Big12 coming straight from the Belt. Give me a freakin break.

I agree the Big12 is the perfect ultimate destination. But this isn't chinese checkers, you don't hop over other conferences. Whoever pointed out TCU earlier, just look at that example. They didn't go straight from the WAC to Big12, they went WAC, CUSA, MWC, then BIG12.

The only way we hop over a conference in my opinion is if we get invited to MWC for an EAST division of some sort... that would be leap frogging CUSA. The Sun Belt may have been on the up and up, but perception is still perception and CUSA gives us a much better outlook on our future. No doubt about it.
