Farmer helped create the platform for this buyout vote. He was an outspoken advocate for the future of UL in the SBC. Just like this bowl revenue sharing change. announced precisely AFTER we sell a record number of tickets (all Cajun money). Scott's support of the SBC led to that. He and T-Joe have created this "fence around the SBC" by their support of the SBC. While the healthiest members of the SBC were out courting membership in other conferences (and probably telling Scott and T-Joe how committed they also were to the SBC) UL was telling all of their local advisors - who tell them the same BS right back - that the SBC would just hunker down and wait until the conference realignment was over. We're outsmarting everyone else.

I'm not very impressed to hear of fence building when half the healthiest livestock already exited the property.

Ok. that's yesterday's news. What T-Joe and Scott have left to do. unless they want to see hyper erosion like UL has never experienced. is to go bold with athletics. Cajun Field first and right away. and as they meet with and speak with the best regional programs for future partnership. they build an undeniable resume and an even more ambitious proclamation of investment in our program. They need to treat private support as a vehicle that occurs well after the launch. not as a condition of the launch.
So he lobbied every other SBC member to vote yes so he could vote no?
Do you really think Farmer wasn't lobbying C-USA?
Why do think it would have been a good idea for Farmer to publicly trash the SBC?

I don't think we're asking for him to publically trash the SBC. Most of what we heard from Scott (until the Buckley interview) was that the SBC was the place for us to be. I suppose we would have liked to hear what he said in TB's interview much sooner. Much more action, and a lot less reaction.

Like I said in my earlier post I agree that Farmer's communication with the fanbase has been poor. That Buckley interview should have taken place a year ago. Better yet he shouldn't have had to wait for a reporter to drag all this info out of him. He should have come out with an open letter or a press release on his own outlining UL's position on conference realignment and what he was doing to put UL in a better position.

    Yes.

But it was kind of like picking up a chick at the bar. You use your best lines but she was never interested in you because she heard from a friend how small your media market was. Then she walks up to FIU and FAU. They're both fat and ugly but they have enormous media markets. She's just one of those girls who likes a big media market. So all you can do is go home and curse the fact that you were born with such a tiny media market.

Or, make sure you are buff, and not the slightest bit unkept. Plain and simple he talks in vagaries and obscure vision of what he wants. It is not enough to say I want to be a stud, you have to get in the gym even if you are only 5'7".

RCAF is a great gym to workout in, but you still gotta hit the free weights. I get the feeling he is walking around looking at a lot of mirrors.

Don't play me with that BS, son. Tech doesn't have 20 million dollars in their athletic budget, they got in by stretching the truth. We weren't prepared for all this.then they were stunned that people were ____ed when we got passed overHAHA!! Look, we might have one more shot.maybe It doesn't happen, you and your buddies will have Cajun Field all to your self Just so I'll know next time I walk into Corner Bar on Friday afternoon which side of the table do you sit on??

Somehow there is a Sigmund Freud theory in this posting!

This sounds like a Sigmund Freud theory!

See that's what I don't get. Farmer was instrumental in starting and growing the RCAF and recently hired this guy who is a fundraising specialist. Our budget has increased every year Farmer has been at the helm. Yet people still feel he isn't doing enough to raise the budget.

Again you can find many legitimate things to criticize Farmer for but this is not one of them.

As far as other threads are concerned I feel Farmer tends to get slammed for things he doesn't deserve to get slammed for. For example he gets blamed for not doing enough to raise our budget but since he's been here the budget has gone from about about 12 million dollars to 15 million dollars and he's taken some great steps to increase it further. He also gets most of the blame on here for us not us not getting into C-USA. There is a false narrative people like to bring up that Farmer is perfectly content with the SBC and did nothing to lobby C-USA. Some believe the only reason we didn't get into C-USA is because Farmer didn't beg them enough. Of course the reason we didn't get in is because we didn't have the budget or media market that C-USA desires it's members to have. That's why UTSA, a Southland school with a 2 year old football program was chosen before any Sun Belt schools were. Plus there is literally zero evidence Farmer "did nothing" and plenty of evidence to the contrary.

If you want to criticize him for a lack of communication with fans, especially during a tumultuous time when fans need to hear something from their "leader," I think that's a more than valid criticism. If you want to criticize him for giving Marlin an extension and pay raise I completely understand. But some of the things he gets criticized for are ridiculous.
Mr. Farmer does get unfairly slammed sometimes.

He could help his cause a bit though if he chose his words a tad more wisely.

For instance on more than one occasion he has stated he intends to be ready when the other conferences come calling.

I'm sorry but it doesn't work that way. They will call the ones they have on speed dial and you only get on speed dial by gauging and engaging ahead of time.

    "Louisiana 1Call" "Call before! . . . You dig?"

Enjoy Tiger Stadium. I hear LSU is in an awesome conference and they do pretty good for themselves. You'll like it there. You'll just need to get used to wearing purple and gold. No one looks good in purple and gold.

As for me I've been through the Baldwin years and never thought of not supporting UL. It will take a lot more than a horrible conference to change that.
