I just find such accusations to be unproductive to our argument. Hence the sarcasm.

    Sorry.

Hope you have a Happy New Year as well. Its supposed to be raining, so please be safe if you're out driving around.
I made the "ObamaBowl Tax" comment and while I wrote it in jest, I'll give you a perfect comparison:

The SunBelt Bowl profit distribution ONLY involves teams within the conference that go to a bowl. Every team will have to share a portion of their profits, that share going into a pot. The profit is determined after expenses are subtracted out of the total profit (and there may be some leeway here) BUT one thing is known already; if there is anyone that will make a "profit", it will be the CAJUNS. So in reality, the conference will be taking money from the richest (say something like over $250k) to be able to distribute to the poor (the other three bowl teams).

Does that sound anything like passing a tax only on the upper 2% of the people?

Agree on both counts. I am hoping for a sellout next year with an afternoon start. This can be done IFF CUSA gets a close team bowl elgible (that reads USM).

Looking at the 2013 calendar, Christmas is on a Wednesday this year which means there won't be any pro games on Saturday night on ESPN, so we should be looking at either an afternoon or evening start time.

Too little, too late. It should have been implemented when Benson first took over from Tubby. Now many of he teams that we want to be associated with, the teams that helped improve the conference are out he door and all this will do is lock us in with moanroe and a bunch of d1aa programs.

Nothing like taxing the top 2% it is much worse.

UL still has one of the lowest budgets in the country, and the SBC has UL giving fan money to schools with larger overall budgets.

The SBC model is more like a Nottingham Sheriff tax.

I thought that too! Where is our Maid Marion?

What is so galling is the fact this is NEW!

Last year we kept our earnings just like every team before us. It seems the members decided it was good to share when we netted toouch while other bowl participants suffered the expenses.

I read the article, and no mention of expenses were made, only levels of revenue obtained. Our school had to make sure it could stay in the black.

Obama reference makes perfect sense when you are taxed for new success while none achievers lean on us!

So since that's the way our tax system has historically been structured, it could also be called the "Wubya Tax" or the "Bubba Tax" or the "Ronnie Tax".

Sorry guys, but there are no two ways around this. If y'all are looking for an exercise in free market capitalism, the last place to look is the NCAA.

If you would condemn a bottom feeder in the SBC for accepting revenue distribution (which I do because I think letting bowl teams keep their earnings would be a good inducement for teams to stay), then you have to condemn a bottom feeder in a bigger conference.

Our game was a lead in to the Las Vegas bowl so some of those sets were tuned into a good portion of the 4th quarter.

They have a few people on there giving us some respect. I'll take it.

    Overall classy fan base.

A team should be allowed to keep bowl money until their athletic income reaches the conference average. This year 3 of the lowest budgets in the SBC . . .UL, ULM and stAte are bowl participants and have to share with the remainder of the conference with much higher athletic budgets. This is our chance to close the gap by producing an attractive football team. Instead our dream of closing the budget difference with our conference mates are getting farther and farther away.

Default New Orleans Bowl T-Shirts in Covington!

I've never seen that before. You could get LSU and Saints but never the Cajuns!

Also, Bed, Bath and Beyond has 5 different types of tumblers, glasses and mugs with UL and Ragin Cajuns logos. Walmart also has the New Orleans Bowl t-shirts.
Which store did you see the t-shirts in?

"I certainly don't mean to ridicule anybody with my comments, but guys you need to take off your purple sunglasses. That team we played yesterday is more talented than East Carolina is. Their OL was big and agile. We got less penetration yesterday against these hogs than any team in CUSA. That includes UCF. Their receivers were tall and fast. Our backs looked like children compared to theirs. We may have had the edge on their defense, but it was close. This team reminded me of a good Southern Miss team. and there was a reason. I'd be willing to bet they are loaded with JUCOs and NQs. If you recall, LA Tech is able to take JUCOs with "D" grade credits. I'm sure the entire Louisiana University system allows this. I'm certain there is no limit to NQs in the Sun Belt. There was a reason it took a fluke touchdown from a blocked punt with 7 seconds to go in the game for the Florida Gators to beat them this year. We ran into a Hornet's nest in this situation. I suspected this prior to the game. But after the first couple plays, I realized we were in trouble."

Someone please send this guy a note on the grade issue! All D-1 schools come under the scrutiny of the ncaa and the grade issue. A kid has to produce a 2.0 to play D-1 football and there is no difference with the issue of APR. NQ kids cannot play in the LA System - D-1 football programs. Fact!
Another issue are the jucos. We had 1 juco starting on Def and 1 on offense! We are not loaded with Jucos!
Send that guy a note and tell him we are an upcoming and productive program performing within the allowable limits of the NCAA.
