I hate to, but have to, agree.... There is always some excuse for things not getting done....

We have to wait for the new budget to come out.. We have to wait for the investigation to be completed....

All the time, teams that we were once on par with are moving forward..... perfect example is La Tech... There should be no reason for that program to be so far ahead of us in terms of advancing their program... We have the facilities, larger student body, larger community... yet here we are barely keeping pace with Monroe while they are in a major conference and knocking on the door of bigger conferences....

We need to get off our duff and hire an AD... A young agressive AD.... Another of the good ole boy net work is not going to make things happen.. I have nothing against he current interim AD, but he is just part of the same group that has been running this program for 20 years now... Everyone is "comfortable"...Back Slapping, hopping on the plane to another butt whipping....

We need to budget some real money and make a 10 year committment to athletics... If the money can be found in Ruston it can be found in Lafayette... Show that committment and you will find contributors in Lafayette coming out of the wood work... The way things are being run now, no one will do so...

It is amazing what people like Steph, and Robe and Robert have been able to do in the current environment... Let's get something done NOW...

oh wait... we can't move until the street work on Ambassador Caffery gets completed and the I-49 corridor is settled..... geez.......

How has is Tech ahead of us? I dont necessarily disagree with the rest of your post, but Tech is bringing up the rear in virtually every sport we compete in.

Tech is in the Mountain West Conference which is getting 2 or 3 Bowl games per year... Yes our conference got more than one this year only because of the winning record rule...Trust me had another team anywhere had a winning record we would not have been in....Tech has been to at least one bowl game in recent memory... I attended our last one... back in the early 70's if memory serves me.... The Grantland Rice Bowl.....

I'm not arguing success on the field other than the aforementioned bowl games but i think we are kidding our selves if we believe that we would be considered for a bigger conference affiliation before Tech would...

We seem mired in the worst football conference in America and can't even seem to compete well in that one.... the 2005 Co-Championship year notwithstanding... Spring Sports we certainly do better in but we all know what drives the bus.... football....

There needs to be an infusion of new blood and excitement... Remember when Terry Don Phillips came in here???? Thats what i'm talking about... it's not going to happen with another good ole boy that all the cronies get along with....

When I graduated in 1990 all things seemed to going well with athletics. I looked forward to us getting better and better and attending many games as alum. Football was giving the big guys scares here and there (Auburn, Ole Miss, OK State, Alabama). Heck some of the first Cajun games I attended we beat UNLV, Colorado State and laid waste to Northern Illinois. Those football and basketball teams would kick our teams butts. We are at best going in circles and not forward. I now wonder if I will live to see the university reach its true potential. If McNeese beats us next year something that after 20 plus years at A-1 shouldn’t even be a possibility our program will be on death row. It is sad because the magic could have happened here.

And I think it still can... There are thousands of fans like us wanting something good to happen here... More than Tech could ever dream of... I attend all home games in football, basketball and baseball and try o get out to see the Ladies as often as i can.. so I am not one of those complaining from the sideline.... I just believe the good ole boy network has gotten complaicent and comfortable with what we ARE... and striving for what we CAN BE is not in their headlights..........

Tech is in the WAC. Thats a couple of steps down from MTN WEST. Tech had some really good years in football...key word, HAD. Everyone is running around Ruston like their hair is on fire over this new coach.

Dudes never proven anything. His assts arent world beaters. Scelfo is a dishonest a.sshole. Probably best we found out about that now, rather than later.

For the most part, their facilities arent as good as ours. Sim has done wonders with the baseball diamond, but it sure isnt "the Tigue"

Football field is mediocre at best. Prescription turf...nice...kudos.

    Our Indoor practice facility...much nicer.

The basketball arena is OK. Certainly not any better than the Cajundome.

Again, I can see your frustration but maybe you should have compared us to Troy instead of Tech. Troy is the one that will leave everyone(including the mighty tech) behind if we dont pll our fingers out of our ssses.

That doesnt make them better in athletics than we are. Perception? Give me a break. Hell, I stayed in Ruston for 2 years. The same hotel the traveling teams would stay in. I can promise you, the mens baseball coach at Fresno, the womens basktball coach at Nevada, et al wish they could be freakin anywhere but Ruston, La. The perception is, La Tech? Yeah they are the team that wears out everyones travel budget having to fly into Shreveport, then bus to Ruston. Bus back to Shvprt and fly out again...

Personally, I met some nice folks and enjoyed myself.

Thanks for the correction on the conference... I did have it mixed up.. Nonetheless I stand by my view...

EVERYTHING you said about facilities is true... We stand head and shoulders above Tech in all of those areas and more... most importantly in size of community and student body.. Yet the WAC is superior to the Belt in virtually every sport...maybe not baseball.... and again i think Tech would move into a more prestigous conference before us...

As for Troy... kudos to those guys... They are moving that program like we SHOULD BE............
