I liked him a lot when we were looking for a coach. Seems like a solid hire to me.

Arkansas State has been the most aggressive school in the belt in terms of pay for new coaches which is why they've landed Freeze, Malzahn and now Harsin. I applaud them for that as that is the only way you are going to get a quality coach at this level unless you just get lucky

Freeze was paid like 200K...Malzhan and Harsin have been paid well.

If i remember correct they were negotiating a new deal with Freeze before he left for Ole Miss. Malzhan ended up getting much more than Freeze would have gotten in his new deal. I haven't heard any figures but I don't know if they will have to pay Harsin what they did Malzhan. My guess is Harsin will get more in the Petrino/Hud range (800-900K)

I haven't seen anything yet. I'd assume he will get in the Petrino/Hud range.

Harsin must be pretty stoked about landing an SEC job next year.

I'm thinking Peterson at Boise ends up leaving next year, which will open the door for Harsin to make a smooth transition. lol

Bryan Harsin. I think he is a good hire. He would have been my choice if HUD left. Any thoughts?

From what I hear, they are also being very aggressive in trying to get into CUSA or the MWC. I wonder how much that plays into getting this coach to leave Texas.

Harsin will get $700K per year. That's third in the Sun Belt behind Petrino ($850K) and Hud ($803K).
