UL’s men’s basketball team has won four straight Sun Belt Conference games. The Cajuns have won two straight Sun Belt road contests.
UL can actually host a first-round Sun Belt Tournament game.
These things were not a figment of anyone’s imagination a month ago, but they are now a reality after two logic-defying wins Thursday and Saturday.
The Cajuns romped past Western Division leader UL Monroe by an 85-56 count on Thursday, and followed that with a last-second 67-65 victory at Denver Saturday.
David Dees’ 17-foot jumper provided the game-winner with 0.7 seconds left, shortly after DU took its first lead of the game with 2:50 left.
Now, if UL wins at Florida International Thursday and against North Texas at home Saturday, the Cajuns are in great shape to finish no worse than eighth in the final seedings and claim a home game.
