It doesn't get much better. I think we needed to go ahead and start football up this weekend and it would have guaranteed an opening season victory. All of the Cajun stars were lined up just right. Actually, each team didn't need astrological support... they just went out and earned it. I may not be able to keep from whistling most of the day at work tomorrow. It has been a Cajun global clean sweep weekend!

What a great start to the Spring Sporting Season. Softball looks to continue their winning ways and baseball has a team that could possibly make a serious run in the post season because of the depth. Basketball is finally starting to come around and giving us something to be proud of to end the season. Womens BBall what can you say Coach Hall has them going no where but up. Can't wait to get out to the ball park next weekend and watch some good baseball.

I have to watch how I phrase this...our bench numbers are few, but the few players contribute very well when they come in on substitutions. If we had more ladies on the bench we would not have to be playing some of our starters for 40 minutes. These 40 minute ladies are well conditioned, but you can observe that towards the end of the game they are a half of a step slower.

I was concerned that the altitude at Denver would affect their play towards the end, but obviously not. Still it would be better to have more bench strength.

And yes, Gorcajun, the weekend was as perfect as it can get, except that the school to the east managed to win one from Stetson. Oh well!!

Yeah, but they lost to Mississippi St. at home on Saturday in basketball.

My comment about the school to the east was meant to be a tongue in cheek comment. I forgot to mention the loss to MSU. I was just too teary eyed!!

  9. This is so COOL CajunBlog: Cajuns have bon temps weekend

UL’s Mardi Gras weekend couldn’t have been much better for Cajun fans. Two wins by both the men’s and women’s basketball teams, a road sweep by the baseball team and another tournament title for the softball squad gave UL reasons to laissez les bon temps rouler.

The Cajun basketball team took two big wins, beating state rival UL Monroe by 29 points and claiming a rare road win at Denver. The two wins keeps UL in the hunt for a first-round home game in the Sun Belt Tournament, a goal unimaginable a month ago.

The UL women also won at Denver on Sunday, moving within one win of no worse than a share of the Sun Belt Western Division title and within two wins of an outright crown — not to mention a bye in the first round of the tournament.

I am all for starting football this week-end. Too bad it won't happen. But there is spring practice starting soon and we can look forward to the spring intersquad game. I hope I can make it over to watch some of the practices and I will make it for the spring game.
Geaux Cajuns' its the start to a great season in all sports.
