Coach Marlin tried to go to the bench to spell our starters and we lost a 10 point lead as soon as the subs got in. We never came back from that. In the second half he just left the starters in and you could see them running out of gas at the end. You need players who can come off the bench and contribute so your best 5 can have something left in the last 5 minutes of the game. Moss is a big guy, we sure could use him to spell Long and get rebounds.
I do have to say that I didn't see him as a big rebounder in the times that I saw him on the court. I thought of him as a perimeter player. JMO
He was a perimeter player and not a rebounder, he can not play with his back to the goal.
Coach says that he has not talked to Moss, they have played phone tag. Moss has requested to transfer to Northwestern or McNeese.
The tallest player on the team and he can't rebound. I wish him luck where ever he lands. The coaches see potential or they wouldn't have recruited him.
Sounds like another Javan Mitchell.
Potential is there. Attitude ain't.
This is just my thoughts. I'm sure the coaches saw potential when they signed him. I think their initial thought was that Coleby would be back this year, so they saw one "inside" player on the roster (Long) coming into this year and really wanted some size added to the roster. It may have worked out that once practices started that he couldn't be the "inside" player needed but was another wing players, and with his physical abilities wouldn't be a player who'd have the offensive/defensive skill set to work into the regular wing rotation right away. With that being the case, Moss may have decided he didn't fit into the scheme as he would have liked.
We've all made wrong decisions that didn't work out, and you sometime can't do anything but have both sides go a different direction. I wish the kid good luck in whatever direction he takes, and I hope coach Marlin can replace him in future years with someone who fits the needs of our team.
