yet on twitter you seem to scoff at those that DON'T think Marlin is the problem. Referring to this comment you made yesterday:

"At this point it's naive for anyone to look at what's happened & continue to blame players. Some still doing that."

I was just a little confused. Seems to be a little contradictory.

I will maintain my position that he will not play significant time at any D1 until he changes that.
Its hard to say if it was a mistake or not as the kid played all of 9 games as a collegiate player. The bottom line is that he was not comfortable here. I'm sure some of it had to do with coach Marlin's style of being pretty salty on players who do not defend and Moss had trouble in that department. He had a couple of bad minutes against McNeese and they didn't play him any more in that game and maybe that sent him over the edge in wanting to leave. What's interesting is that Marlin said that he's more lenient on the older guys who make some mistakes out there rather than the youngsters who he is willing to pull quicker if they are not doing the right things. While I understand this, you have to also recognize that they are young players and will make more mistakes and should be given a level of freedom. I think this is why many of the newer players over the last couple of years have had a tough time with Marlin.

Personally, I don't care who was recruiting Moss as he is a project player and will likely end up at a lower level school. I wouldn't be surprised to see him at McNeese if they want him

Maybe after the game while they were shaking hands, the McNeese coach said "Matt, if you were a Cowboy you would be playing a lot more."

Just saying, they recruited him also.

Players who leave mid-semester either fail their classes or withdraw and receive no credit. They are deemed no longer in good academic standing and hurt the program’s APR.

He didn't leave mid-semester. He is still here currently, likely finishing up this semester so we have no idea how he's done in school but it would be a major mistake on his part not to finish the semester out wherever he is so is in good standing for the school he wishes to attend.

The semester is over. Finished last week. Grades are in as well.

I believe what 81 was saying was that players like Raymone and JJ who leave mid semester can hurt the APR if they don't stay and finish their classes here. I don't believe Matt is in that category as he basically said he wanted to transfer as soon as the semester was over.

    The exodus continues. Who's next?

No confusion on my part. Just limited to 140 characters on each Twitter post. I do think it's naive for anyone to look at what's happened over the past few years since Marlin took over and immediately blame the departed players and former coach(es) for all of the transfers and issues. Some people are still doing that. There's a shared responsibility here. Doesn't mean I think Marlin deserves to be fired or lose his job. I'd just like to see a more critical look at what exactly is going on. I believe Marlin is a quality Xs and Os coach and has the track record to rebuild the program, but at this point that's becoming more and more difficult with every transfer moving forward given they're his guys.

I was told Sunday night that Moss had packed up his dorm and already moved out. He wasn't at practice Sunday and didn't show up Monday either. As for academics, final exams for the fall semester were last week.

Neither Raymone or JJ left mid semester. Each finished the academic year. Raymone helped the APR with A 3.0 GPA and JJ had his summer tuition at UL covered by Marlin via athletic funds (hum) even after signing with Cal Northridge.

    Hah!

That is exactly what happened to Robert Lee when Elijah Millsap was courted by the UAB coach after a game.

At what point should we get concerned? We just lost to McNeese and now his guys are leaving...
