I hope so just enough to make some sort of a presence is cool with me.

Hello Cajuns. Yes our ticket sales are going slow. Monday, 5pm is deadline for our priority seating. Our group of 4 is buying our tickets Monday waiting to see how many total we need together. Hopefully a bunch of others are waiting like we are. We support our team but this is tough. Just before Xmas and 800-900 miles away, 12-14 hour drive, it’s hard to do. I flew to New Orleans in 2008 for the ECU-Tulane game from Raleigh for about $250. I flew in 3 weeks ago for our game with Tulane for $460. Tickets right now are over $500. Four of us are driving down for the bowl game. I’m hoping we will have at least 5000 or more fans but the ratio will probably be like our game at the Memphis Liberty Bowl a couple years ago against Arkansas where it was probably 5-1 Arkansas. I’m glad you support your team and glad you will be bringing a huge crowd. It will look good on TV. I’m looking forward to meeting some of you guys. I enjoy reading your board. I promise you, re: questioning our support for our team, if we were playing in a bowl say in Charlotte, 4 hours from Greenville, we would bring 30-40,000 people. It certainly isn’t an issue with having to go to New Orleans or playing Louisiana that will be keeping some ECU fans home, it’s timing and $$$$$. I love New Orleans. I had so much fun the other week I told my wife we need to come once a year. I didn’t realize then that I would be back in six weeks. 

This has a lot to do with it. I'm disappointed with our ticket sales so far, but can't say I'm all that surprised. Many fans I know who have attended most of our past bowls told me they simply cannot manage the travel distance that close to so many Christmas commitments. The price of air fare was also frequently mentioned as a reason. On the other hand, I have purchased my flight, reserved a room near the Superdome, and made whatever adjustments I can to my work and holiday obligations to free up just barely enough time to attend the bowl. Yet I still haven't purchased my ticket to the game. I know of several others who like me have made their travel arrangements but aren't getting their tickets until next week. Our numbers should improve some, but they will probably still be well below our typical bowl crowd.

You would think they would be more excited. In 2011 they did this weird "Virtual Bowl" thing because they weren't invited to any bowl.

PurpleK and Pirate74, I hear you guys loud and clear on that one. I know if the tables were reversed and we were playing y'all in Charlotte right before Christmas idk if I'd make that trip. Even with making it out there for the Coca Cola 600 5 times and knowing the area a little bit holiday season would be rough.

Simply a way to raise money for the Pirate Club. You ought to try it next time you don't get a bowl bid. It works.

Thanks for the suggestion but not thrilled with the reason to do it. Geaux Cajuns

I don't think that would fly well down here. We are not to the point where we can just ask for donations and expect a big return. It was strange but pretty smart. You would have spent way more than $50 going to a bowl game. Just ask your fans to donate that money to the university. Do you know how many you sold? I'm just curious.

    Sorry, couldn't help it
Only bowl worth a flip in Ruston is the American Standard Bowl, 2.3 gallon flush...

Glad you enjoyed your last trip and plan on coming back. You should encourage more of your fellow Pirates to come. I think y'all would enjoy a bowl atmosphere more than a regular season game. You get to party with 40 thousand crazy Cajuns. Don't worry though, we aren't the "spit on you or flip your car" crazy. We're more likely to buy you a few drinks and see if you can keep up with us. haha.

Tell your other Pirates that if they can't get a car pool together, another option to think about is Megabus. Their route between Charlotte and NO is about $135 round trip. I haven't been on one but a friend from Atlanta rode on it and meet us in New Orleans. He said it was pretty clean, like a charter bus and it had free wifi.

I am flying in from California. It is a little expensive, but this past year I attended the NO Bowl and had a blast. The quarter will be rocking. I highly recommend that as many of your fan show up for what amounts to a huge tailgate part in the French Quarter.

The Quarter will be decorated for Christmas which is an awesome bonus.
