Yes, there is a Cochon in Lafayette, but go to the one on Tchoupitoulas and hit their deli right around the corner called "Butcher". I once descibed it to a friend of mine as "a Cajun/Creole version of New York deli on steroids"!! They have all kinds of unique deli-style dishes and they also have an exclusive wine bar.

Make make sure to say hello to Mrs. Leah Chase. All of the past three US Presidents have eaten there and have their signed pictures on the wall.

Definitely go there, then go around the corner to Willie Mae's Scotch House for "America's BEST Fried Chicken"!!

My favorite hole in the wall is Hobnobber's for lunch. Some of the best gumbo I have ever had. On Carondolet right before Bourbon

try the "star steak and lobster." a tiny, clean, and plain steak house just a couple of doors down decatur from the house of blues. best rib-eye steak in the city. good, simple seafood dishes, too. nothing but unpretentious, good food and service.
