Thread: Running to New Orleans

  1. Default Running to New Orleans

UL has just beaten South Alabama in its final home game of 2012, and senior offensive tackle Jaron Odom has a question.

How many yards did the Ragin' Cajuns run for, Odom wonders. Not how many did they pass for, not how many in total offense. How many did they run for?

I truly believe that our best chance to win vs ECU is by running the ball effectively. ECU gives up an average of 166 yards per game on the groung, compared to 277 through the air. If we can run the ball effectively vs ECU, it will open up our passing game for TB to have over 300 yards passing, not to mention to get the zone read going. But the most important thing it does for us is it will really eat up the clock and keep our Defense off the field. I think that coach Hud needs to keep our offense on the field as much as possible and control the line of scrimmage but more importantly control the time of possesssion. With our Defense being battered and bruised, the best way to keep them fresh and ready to play is to have the ball more than ECU. This is what we did vs Florida and we nearly won the game.

I really think controlling the ball, through a solid ground attack is our best way to win. Not saying we won't win if we don't do this, it just will make it much easier. The good news is that our O-Line is healthy and between the three headed monster of Harris, Reed and Peirce and how effectively TB can run the ball, we should be okay.

Geaux Cajuns, see you all in the Dome, with over 40,000 of my closest Cajun friends.

The thing is Broadway can play with with no fear. We have Blaine backing him up and we all know he is very capable.

Play this one just like the ULM game. Walk to the line, milk the play clock, heavy doses of the zone read. Limit our defenses time on the field. Our offense is clicking right now, I like our chances.
