There are some really crazy names flying out there. I almost choked on my lunch when I read the rant sports article and they mentioned Gruden.

So typical for FIU. They started with Don Strock, then local legend Christobal, let's not forget Isiah Thomas in basketball. This is a university that thinks if you played it at a high level you can be a head coach at a high level. Yea, how has that worked so far?
Just to be clear, Butch Davis was very successful at Miami, but not anywhere else. He may still have some magic in the Miami area.
Also let us not forget and not to be outdone FAU hired Howard Schnellenberger for their celebrity coach to start the program, followed by Pelini brother of a rather infamous coach at Nebraska.
Cristobal = USF Perhaps??? Per NBC.
i can't wait until we hear - Jon Gruden to FIU!!!!!
Get over yourselves, CUSA trash...
FIU's AD is not an easy guy to work for. Garcia had a personal problem with Cristobal. Apparently he was fired for refusing to make a change to his coaching staff (just like Isiah Thomas last spring), with the 3-9 season being used as additional cover. Cristobal will likely stay in south Florida because of his strong family ties there. That's the reason why he turned down Rutgers last January. Wouldn't be surprised if he joined the Bucs and coach Greg Schiano. They worked together at Rutgers.
Isn't this the school that had a basketball coach named Shakey Rodriguez?
And an athletic director named Rick Mello?
One can see why Rick didn't stay around, but how about Shakey in a program as stable as theirs?
