That's funny. I'm hearing the next round of realignment will happen in the next two weeks before Christmas.

So the question for Santa is "Have Cajun fans been naughty or nice?" Do we get a lump of coal or the golden ticket?

People automatically assume this conference will be much worse in terms of football with the latest defections but the truth is that we are losing only 1 team that finished in the top 5 of the final 2012 conference standings. While the conference will likely see a dropoff in its bottom dwelling teams, the top of the league will still be strong and Texas State may very well be better than NT and FAU from the beginning.

Depends on who we end up with. Unsubstantiated, but I'm hearing that perhaps McNeese State and Lamar will apply to the SBC. If we add App State and GA Southern, will need to add 2 teams from the west. NMSU may be out of our footprint and may actually be a candidate for CUSA. If so, who is left? Even WKU is discussed as the next invite to CUSA. The SBC could end up looking like this:

West - UL, Ark State, Texas State, ULM, Lamar, McNeese State
East - USA, Troy, WKU, GA State, App State, GA Southern

In today's Advertiser, the MT AD said the SBC is leaning towards a $10M buyout for leaving the conference. Once he got the offer from CUSA, he wanted out immediately before that is passed. If Savoie allows this to pass and we are still in the conference, we will NEVER get out. And, IF we end up in such a conference, you can turn out the lights on this university.

McNeese's officals came out yesterday and stated they have no plans to move up to FBS.

You may be joking BUT I see A LOT OF POSITIVE OUT OF THIS. One, it affords us to pay him more. Two, it gives him a more direct way to improve our athletic program. Three, who, out of everybody we have EVER known at this university, has a better personality to get people invoived in our program?

I like the idea ... I like it a lot.

I know it hurt Nelson Stokley but we are talking Assistant AD here.
