Jay Johnson might be a solid option for us if something would happen with Hud.

    So the new question is:
Does USM think more highly of Jay Johnson then they do HUD, or is it because HUD somehow made it clear to them that he is not interested and they are moving on to plan B which is Johnson?

OK, but still gives credence to the staff that Hud has put together here.

Hud was quoated in the paper this past week that he had no interest in th S. Miss job. Sounds fairly clear to me.

He also said he was not interested in the UL job 3 days before accepting the position.

They must have liked what they heard otherwise they would not have invited him back to interview this time around.

This is just speculation, but IMO even if Hud is greatly disappointed in what the administration is not doing, he places himself in a much better spot leaving next season. I would think most of the recruiting hay is ready to be reaped this year, and the conference will still be 1A in 2013 regardless of anything that happens now. Those 1AA schools need at least a year to come in, and then he can make a better gambit for the 2014 season. jmo

USM or Hud would have to buy his contract that was renewed last season. I just think USM is still a long shot for this season. Next season will bring all the opportunities he wants if he is not satisfied with the Wizard, and Farmer.
