Thread: Tech=no bowl

The UL Fans who blasted LATUR for being greedy and skipping the I Bowl for hopes of a better bowl are the exact same people blasting UL for not holding out on NOLA for a shot at a better bowl.

I have not seen a single person say that UL should have held out on the NO Bowl; only that they should have listened to what the Indy was offering rather than rejecting them outright. That is certainly not the same thing.

So you are gonna believe an asu guy who is mad bc they have to go to mobile instead of New Orleans and the commissioner who needed us to roll the dice and take all the risk so he can look good by getting more teams in? That's who we are relying on for the info, that's who is saying we didn't even listen.

When the I-Bowl called they did not call to extend an invitation to UL, they simply wanted to discuss UL's interest in the game. Since the N.O. Bowl was apparently ready to extend an official offer, I don't see the need to discuss details for an offer that probably would not come.

Then we can agree to disagree. "Probably won't come" is not known if we don't actually listen to the offer. While it is unlikely, they may have been willing to give us the same contract payout that they would have given the SEC; but if we don't listen, we never know.

I certainly would not turn down NO without a firm offer from the Indy, but I would definitely want to know what they were offering, if only to use as a bargaining chip with NO.

The value in listening to details is to set a known threshold for future offers.

The point is, the 2 people accusing us of this...is 2 people that are really butthurt about is going to New Orleans for their own selfish reasons. Do you know for a fact that tjoe didn't listen? Or will you just take the word of 2 ____ hurt people? We listened last year...why wouldn't we listen now?

I'm not saying, claiming, or buying that we did or did not listen.

I am simply touting the value of listening

Not a similar situation. Win your conference and you have to be placed, and we did, Tech did not. If next year, we're in 2nd place in the conference and NOLA comes calling, you take it, this year was not the case. We may not have this much breathing room this late in the season again for a while.

I agree, but to think a man like tjoe got where he is in life without listening...that's ignorant. Either way, probably never know for sure and we have a championship and bowl game to win.

So tuff, what happens if we decline Nola, go daddy has to take us? If we turn them down, then what? I bowl, Detroit? We have the right to turn down bowls, their obligation is to offer
