Look at the other schools who offered these guys [not sent letters, offered scholarships]. A partial list includes Michigan State, Northwestern, Purdue, Arizona, Ole Miss, Clemson, South Carolina, TCU, SMU, UAB, Memphis, UTEP. Not a McNeese or Northwestern State in the bunch.

You guys need to get a grip.

That being said, we always need more recruiting money, so pony up, guys!

We don't need to get a grip, we are just stating the obvious. We do have talented players, but do we have enough of them??? The answer is gonna be NO, any way you look at it, we're just bottom dwelling for the time being.............We need to generate more funds guys........enough said.

I really think our team will overachieve........the coaches push'em to the limits and they have heart!

The word of the day is MONEY

Good post, I agree with you for the majority but these kids are known on a national scale. Those who send their highlight tapes to the site are just adding hype for their own benefit. By doing this they up their "stock".......it's a business and yes some do fall through the cracks, but are then scooped up by the BCS schools. These websites are pretty accurate, they are able to give schools the height, weight, speed, strength, etc. which are given to them by coaches, media, players.........It's a very useful tool.

All I am saying is that money is what's holding us down. We sign great players, but we don't get those "gems". We get the All District Players and the standout players on decent high school teams which is great! We need these guys because they have definite potential to blossom into great athletes, but we still need to mix in a couple of big hitters like Troy and Arkansas State did this year and North Texas from the years past.

    UL Football Re: Recruiting

"if you build it, they will come!" I'm tired of seeing this team underacheive year in and year out. We totally choked last year. I can understand wanting to charge more to the loyal fans who have supported this below average program for many years. Start winning games and people will show, no matter the price. I'm not trying to be negative about this, I love the Cajuns, but we've got to start producing consistancy. We've seen a turn around in support over the past five years or so and what have we done on the feild in that time that is worth braggin about (compared to 95% of D-1 programs). Bottom line, it starts on the feild!

VO is correct, the true measure of a class in the end is wins. But you need to look at which programs offered these athletes as well and we are doing better then several SunBelt programs that offered athletes that committed to SWAC programs. I would say that over the past three years, we have improved the quality of athletes signing with this program. We will have a lot of Juniors this year,so the expectations are higher now.

Thanks for weighing in! We have heard the same thing from Mrs Plouhar. Your player is Kyle Cox, the DE from Mt Belvieu, TX right?

Welcome aboard. Get ready to party your *** off at the tailgate!

If you are Kyle Cox's mom, you HAVE to come by the Eauque to tailgate. I am from Anahuac and we have another regular from Vidor. Can't ever have too many Chambers/Jefferson County folks around!

I don't totally disagree with your original post, when it comes to the importance of MONEY. I do disagree with the national media rankings of players, our ranking therefore, and that analysis. I live in BR, and this morning, the office talk was centered around l s u and their recruiting (and of course, I have to hear some remark about UL's overall ranking). The ranting and raving went on and on about bama's leap in player ranking and overall status. There were quite a few bama recruits that were not ranked weeks ago, and suddenly, they are 3 and 4 star recruits. This makes the l s u group livid. Much of the recruit ranking nationally is fed via a circular loop... the hs recruit pimps go out and start the fuss... the schools start showing their interest... the pimps look at who is being recruited and by whom, and re-adjust the ratings.

I am not saying that highly touted players are not gifted athletes out of highschool. But, there is a huge self-serving interest mixed into the rating/ranking. It sure is funny how many mid major schools have put solid professional athletes in the NFL... and I have done some checking... these guys were never rated.

That, again, does not discount the players that are rated. It simply is not a solid gauge of those who are not. There have been schools, like Texas, who showed interest in a TE who was not even the highest rated TE in his county. But, once Texas showed interest, he escalated in the rating chart instantly. Texas was looking for a specific need, not a heralded hs TE.

That said... I am totally in agreement on the need for massive fund infusion into our athletics. I hate that we are waiting for the motor to prove itself before we will put any gasoline into it. That is not my mindset. I think we should rally everyone who we know, and so on, and get their punk-azz to Cajun Field (in the stands).

I will guarantee one thing... if we turn into the "show me first" sports fans, we are doomed. I am much bigger as a person than the young people that enter college and want to participate and excel in sports. I will back them regardless. If they wear my school colors, I back them.

I've said this before, but Lafayette, and the Acadiana area sincerely need to get over the "I'm better than UL" mentality. I've been around, and that ain't the case. The area is also monumentally stupid if it does not foster the biggest business in its own back yard. Understand... I am not talking about those who do back UL. I am talking about the many I run across that do not have the pubic hair to support their own and make something big out of it. You are a small insignificant organism if you must only affiliate with that which has already been built... big... by others. You are a MAN (or WOMAN) if you help build it.

I can't quite remember his name, but he said he was going to sign up for an account on here as BigPappaDaddy. He ate at Hub City Diner.

It's that obvious is it? He's begged me to stay off this, but can't help it. I've got to see what's being said. We are so excited to be part of the Ragin Cajun family.
