With the holiday shopping season upon us, most retailers are seeing a boom in business, but a popular store at the Mall of Acadiana is getting ready to close its doors.
By the end of the year Hollister will no longer be doing business in the Mall of Acadiana according to property manager CBL Properties. They tell KATC Hollister did not renew their lease and a new tenat is set to move in after the first of the year. Hollister's parent company Abercrombie and Fitch shut their doors at the Mall of Acadiana last December.
According to published reports Abercrombie plans to close 180 stores across the United States by 2015. Last year they closed 71 of their U.S. stores, 68 during the busiest holiday shopping season. No word on how many employees will be out of work when Hollister does close in the Mall of Acadiana.
We did speak with employees off camera and some say they have jobs lined up while others are still searching. All employees though want answers to why Hollister is closing. We did reach out to Abercrombie and Fitch but they did not respond back for comment.
