ROUX: Two more make verbal commits to UL

UL's football commitment list jumped up by two more players Tuesday, with the Ragin' Cajuns getting verbal pledges from players in Texas and Florida. Wide receiver Jawanza Mitchell of Mesquite, Texas-West Mesquite High and cornerback Orkeys Auriene of Daytona Beach, Fla.-Mainland High gave Cajun coach Rickey Bustle verbal commitments after official visits during the past two weekends. Mitchell is the second player from West Mesquite to commit to the Cajuns in the past two days, with linebacker and prep teammate Richard Brooks committing to UL on Sunday. USM was expected to welcome the largest group of the 2007 recruiting season this weekend, with 22 players scheduled to visit.

Among the visitors were a quintet who already had given non-binding verbal commitments: Poplarville RB Ike Bowden; Marietta (Ohio) PK Justin Estes; West Point DB Jamar Shelton; Bastrop (La.) DB Dedric Jones; and Patterson (La.) DB Tarence Calais.

Of the remaining 17, one was a junior college player, Copiah-Lincoln CB Jasper O'Quinn.

Also visiting: Mainland (Fla.) CB Orkeys Auriene; Sandalwood (Fla.) OLB Marquise Boone; Harris County (Ga.) CB Derrius Brooks; Bishop Moore (Fla.) RB V.J. Floyd; Clermont (Fla.) LB Gregg Lloyd; Lake Gibson (Fla.) CB Bilal Powell; Vestavia Hills (Ala.) RB Chris Underwood.
