talking about HUD's contract or HUD leaving every time a new coaching gig opens up?

Ouur fan base looks like scared little kids that are going to lose their daddy. We cannot worry about that every single time X coach gets fired from X team in X conference. If we act like he's going to leave the first chance he gets, then that's exactly what he's going to do.

How about we just do what we can while he's here to keep him here. Show unwavering support, attend every game rain or shine, and continue to tell him how much we appreciate him here every time you see him in person. He knows what kind of people are in this city and he knows that something very big can rise out of the ashes that is Cajun football for the past decade+. I believe in him when he says we will be ranked in the top 25 at some point in the near future of this program.

So let's stop all this chatter about him leaving all the time and let's embrace him while he IS HERE. If he feels appreciated here and can continue to build a great program... he won't leave so easily.

Sorry, rant over. I just had to get that off my chest... and after talking with numerous people the last few days... I know I'm not the only one that feels this way.

He pretty much said to quit worrying. He also made what I call a "fair" statement about coaches and him in particular leaving. He said if he went on an extended losing streak the same people worrying about him leaving would want his head. Not his exact wording, but my evaluation of his exact comment.

There is nothing anyone on these fan boards can do except as you said show up at the games and support the RCAF the money arm that makes him happy when he looks at his saving account.

I understand your frustration with these topics but this is exactly what this board is for. Would you rather people complain here or do it on an interview with KATC, coaches show, etc..... I would rather keep the grumblings here (by the small few) and let it die once people leave their computer and go home.

I understand your frustration with these topics but this is exactly what this board is for. Would you rather people complain here or do it on an interview with KATC, coaches show, etc..... I would rather keep the grumblings here (by the small few) and let it die once people leave their computer and go home.

I completely understand and agree that people should be able to voice their opinions on this board, because yes, it is for that sole purpose.

But, I just feel like constantly worrying about new job openings and him leaving is such a NEGATIVE way of thinking. The same reason I get frustrated when people talking about the Florida game say, "good thing we lost, cause if we won HUD would be gone after this season." It just makes me mad, if we were to won... I wouldn't be worried about HUD leaving in the least, I would've been super pumped that he got some major recognition for our program. It would take more than 1 and a half seasons with more than 1 major upset for the true big boys to come calling on HUD.

I'm just ready to leave the "tail between your legs" approach at the door that Bustle walked out of. Time to move on from that way of thinking.

There is nothing wrong with looking at other programs in the hunt for a new coach, and assessing whether Hud is a viable candidate. We were much closer to losing Hud to Tulane than people realize. And it took fans, along with the administration (via certain fans) to cut that off at the pass. The contract that has Hud somewhat secured isn't the invention of our wise administration. Some of you need to think a little harder about what ACTUALLY makes things happen. Hud was hired because of vocal and powerful fans. He'll be retained by vocal and powerful fans... or run off by vocal and powerful fans... just like every other program.

I like you types that have a little cheerleader in you that apparently never got to wear the bloomers. Hud is a man. And he loves you cheerleading for him. But, if you ever try to kiss him, like you fantasize about, he'll crush your face in. Now, don't try kissing him and he'll milk you for all the cheerleading you can provide.

We aren't driving Hud off if we criticize a game or two, or a series of plays or two. He's coach-smart and knows how to use the media vehicle to be funny and clever with fans. He'll turn on one or two to get the rest to do his bidding. That's a good thing. I laugh and applaud his quips regarding fans. It's smart.

But again, there isn't anything wrong... and something right... about looking at the coaching landscapes and how it affects us. It is also smart for fans to be aware of conference realignments and criticize and speak up about our admin's work toward making the right moves both internally and externally to secure our best future. We have supporters carrying our consensus messages to our leadership. Don't believe for one second that anything good you've seen athletically came from a lack of pressure on our admin... including the retention of Hud... past, present and future.

Oh... and yes Hud... just like anywhere else... the same people that helped get you your salary increase will be the same that want you fired... if you start flunking as a head coach. The admin will gladly take credit for giving you a raise, getting new stuff, etc... but "it's fans that get coaches fired". BS... it is fans that do it all.

And never make the mistake of criticizing the participating fan because of problems associated with the non participating fan... like some other short-sighted people have in the past. Me and some friends will eviscerate them if I see that ____ happening again.

The only real point I'm TRYING to make is that it's ludicrous to point the finger and say "hey!, another coach fired! Is HUD going to leave?!" with every random school.

Like I said, until the BIG BOYS are lurking in the eauxk trees around Cajun Field, (which will only happen if we go undefeated or have a 1-loss season with a few upsets) there's simply no reason for discussion. End of story.
