There is nothing wrong with looking at other programs in the hunt for a new coach, and assessing whether Hud is a viable candidate. We were much closer to losing Hud to Tulane than people realize. And it took fans, along with the administration (via certain fans) to cut that off at the pass. The contract that has Hud somewhat secured isn't the invention of our wise administration. Some of you need to think a little harder about what ACTUALLY makes things happen. Hud was hired because of vocal and powerful fans. He'll be retained by vocal and powerful fans... or run off by vocal and powerful fans... just like every other program.

I like you types that have a little cheerleader in you that apparently never got to wear the bloomers. Hud is a man. And he loves you cheerleading for him. But, if you ever try to kiss him, like you fantasize about, he'll crush your face in. Now, don't try kissing him and he'll milk you for all the cheerleading you can provide.

We aren't driving Hud off if we criticize a game or two, or a series of plays or two. He's coach-smart and knows how to use the media vehicle to be funny and clever with fans. He'll turn on one or two to get the rest to do his bidding. That's a good thing. I laugh and applaud his quips regarding fans. It's smart.

But again, there isn't anything wrong... and something right... about looking at the coaching landscapes and how it affects us. It is also smart for fans to be aware of conference realignments and criticize and speak up about our admin's work toward making the right moves both internally and externally to secure our best future. We have supporters carrying our consensus messages to our leadership. Don't believe for one second that anything good you've seen athletically came from a lack of pressure on our admin... including the retention of Hud... past, present and future.

Oh... and yes Hud... just like anywhere else... the same people that helped get you your salary increase will be the same that want you fired... if you start flunking as a head coach. The admin will gladly take credit for giving you a raise, getting new stuff, etc... but "it's fans that get coaches fired". BS... it is fans that do it all.

And never make the mistake of criticizing the participating fan because of problems associated with the non participating fan... like some other short-sighted people have in the past. Me and some friends will eviscerate them if I see that ____ happening again.

Like I said, until the BIG BOYS are lurking in the eauxk trees around Cajun Field, (which will only happen if we go undefeated or have a 1-loss season with a few upsets) there's simply no reason for discussion. End of story.

Not really worried about the radio. Just thinking, as a Cajun fan, if I had a choice between the two then I'd go to the game instead of Hud's show. But there aren't really any other options with the show, so I understand why the scheduled it when they did.

Just thinking, there a lots of activities in Lafayette this evening. Camellia Crossing, DTA, Hud Show, and bball game. I hope Hud doesn't plan on taking Camellia from campus to Walk-Ons this evening, or he'll be late for the show.

I understand your feelings. What about the guys on here that worry we'll go undefeated and lose Hud overnight. Can you imagine how silly that thinking is? It's equivalent to the person that doesn't want to win the lottery for fear of all the taxes owed.

When Hud arrived, I saw the future issues... and we've done well to be where we are at. After running quickly through the worst scenarios... having made it through two seasons that are going to culminate in bowls... we've weathered what I consider the worst of it. The next phase is to achieve even greater accomplishments, and raise the luxurious issue of Hud's attractiveness to a whole greater level. I look forward to it.
