Thread: Hudspeth Contract

  1. #1

    Default Hudspeth Contract

I know Coach Hud got a huge bump in pay this year, and I assume he will get some of the incentives that he has in place. So question I have is, if Coach Hud takes us to the 8-4 mark again and we go bowling and we win, does his contract get renegotiated?

Or do we sit on our hands this time and decide after 2013 season?

    Thoughts?

Let's see: Here are the thought processes.

Hud: "Well I won 9 games again this year, and we weren't sneaking up on anybody. We are much better and the future looks bright."

Farmer: "Hud is a winner, we will keep getting better if we keep him; we should give him a modest raise for him and his assistants, and push hard for the facilities improvements he wants."

Savoie: "Wow! 9 wins again. Financially, they are doing well over there. Maybe I can cut another million from athletics."

    LOL

In the end it comes down to the persons paradigm.

I think if Hud wants to come back to the table we sit on our current contract and explain to him our stance: "You accepted our initial contract and did great in your first year so we rewarded you with a new contract. You did great in your second year, as we anticipated/expected, and is why you got a raise in the first place. Keep up the good work and if success continues so will your pay. We can't up the ante every year that we have a good season as this negates the point of having a contract in the first place."

Does he deserve more money? Probably so. Should we give him more after this year? I'm not so sure. What kind of precedent does this set? Do we set ourselves up for the rest of our athletic coaches to come every prosperous year for more money? Doesn't this take away from a signed contract that both parties agreed to? I think in a perfect world he deserves quite a bit more money than he is getting currently but have profits from the football program gone up by that much? I am actually curious to see what those numbers would look like.

I think the incentives inserted into the new contract will be a significant bump in pay. Attendance was one. Another bowl game was another.

I type this, hoping for no backlash. I loved the authemont pic., in his tour, he definitely eliminated the growth of the program.

yes, a contract is a contract. we tendered a huge bump last season. yes, worth every penny. this year though, he gets all the incentives earned, same as ricky williams did.

I sure hope he doesn't get more money this year for attendance. It decreased!!
