My top 3 would be USA(the earlier, the better), UA(if in LR) & ASU(think Memphis)

Depends on the age of your family and how much you want to spend.

USA is a very easy road trip. Only about 5 hours from Lafayette, lots of good restaurants etc., and if it is an early season game, there are beaches nearby, along with Bellingrath Gardens [sp?].

GSU is in downtown Atlanta. Lots of really fabulous things to do there, but I highly suggest the High Museum and the Coca Cola Museum.

Bowling Green is a long way and not much happening there; Manhattan is not much, either, but the KSU fans are very nice. I have been to Akron once, but it was long ago. I know nothing about them. Jonesboro is pretty dead, but it is less than 90 minutes from Memphis, which has some interesting stuff. Little Rock is ok, but if we are playing UA in Fayetteville, about all I can say is that the scenery is nice.

If I have lots of cash: GSU, USA, ASU, UA, KSU, WKU, Akron

If cash is a bit more limited: USA, GSU UA, ASU, KSU, WKU, Akron

These are the teams we are playing, but the dates are not set in stone. I do like opening at Arkansas with a presumed new head coach.

I actually prefer them up front. I hated how the FL game fell this year right in the middle of the conference season.

my crew is already tentatively planning our trip to USA. It will be a good road trip destination. An hour-ish further than Monroe but sooooo much better of a location for a road game than Monroe

I will definitly be at the USA game, only 1.5 hours for me and an easy interstate drive. This should be a no brainer for the UL fans. Even if you don't stay in Mobile, its an easy drive back to MS where you can have the beaches, food, and casinos.

I found myself back in 1986... watching Brian Mitchell whip some butt... I was so excited about Cajun football. I jumped in my time machine and darted forward to 2013. My time machine has limited functionality (I was just out of college and hadn't had time to perfect it) and the only thing it could do was allow me to look at UL football program schedules. I glanced at the 2013 Ragin Cajun football schedule and said, "Oh ____! We've dropped to D1AA! What the F is a FAU and a ULM?"

Oh well... this is what we get when we leave academians with no testosterone in charge... for decades.

Message to T-Joe. You had better get the loan in place for the Cajun Field renovations. As you think you are making improvements and doing wonderful things for UL... everyone else is outpacing you... and it involves athletics... and in particular... football. It plays a critical role in what you and others will be able to do academically in that thing we call "the future".

Get the loan done and get on with it. You will not lose your house or your pension... so nut up and stop acting like you're Chuck Yeager getting ready to fly at mach 1 for the first time. What you need to do has been proven and proven and proven over and over and over. You have no pressure whatsoever. The pressure you think you have is self-induced.

How to flush your mind... Do not allow another department head in your office for a month. Spend time only with Coach Mark Hudspeth. You need to understand something that is contrary to your person. "Academia" is a disease. It infests your mind and makes you believe you know things that you do not... because those around you are infested as well. It makes you think the world actually resembles the one described by your colleagues. The existing world is not as they understand it and the world they would prefer would be a disaster. Get them out of your office... don't read their memos... don't go knocking around campus thinking all is good just because a bunch of 18 to 22 year olds are smiling and having a good time. They are high and they just got laid. The world seems like a fantasy to them.

Now, do as I say. Get the Cajun Field renovations started and let's keep pushing the envelope Mr. Yeager. You are seriously going to enjoy flying T-Joe. Put some air under the UL wings and promote football because you love academics and you love UL. I absolutely promise you, without any doubt whatsoever... you are better than those to the east of you... you will operate it exceptionally better. It will be the greatest achievement for UL and Lafayette. It is the right thing to do. Now.
