Thread: Miami Says No to Postseason

Default Miami Says No to Postseason

For the second straight year, the University of Miami has decided to declare itself ineligible for postseason play. If you remember, they're waiting for the NCAA to lower the boom on the Nevin Shapiro scandal.

This will probably ensure there will be no further postseason ban.

If Ohio State had done this last year instead of letting their ego get in the way, they'd be playing for the national championship this year.

That means North Carolina, Miami, Penn State and Ohio State are all ineligible.

And that makes it even more likely that all Sun Belt teams that qualify will be in a bowl game.

I know this has never happened and probably won't this year, but what are the plans if their are not 70 bowl eligible teams. Right now their are 62 teams (minus Miami) bowl eligible, their are 15 teams that have a chance to be come bowl eligilbe for the 8 remaining spots, the caveat to this is UTSA, that can only play in a bowl if their are not enough bowl eligible teams according to ESPN.

So back to my original question, what happens if only 69 teams are bowl eligible, does the bowl offer it to a 5-7 team or possible a Temple team that may get to 6-6, but not bowl eligible because of who they played.

UTSA will be first team on deck...waiting to see only 69 teams become eligible.

Not according to this, but they may change the rules again. (Note, this was after CBS put out an article mentioning them and this newer article refutes that)

Jay, are UCF eligibility issues resolved for the current season? They should be in a bowl, right?

I think I read somewhere that a possible 5-7 Rice team would be next up, then a 5-7 Wake Forrest. I want to say it had to do with APR, but I could be wrong.
