We finished the game and were more physical than WKU. We showed more heart and made the plays when we had to to win. We deserved the win. The only thing that gave them the lead was turnovers and that is the only thing that slowed our offense down. I would have said that WKU didn't deserve to win had the outcome been different.
I would normally say that a conference win would have to be more important but considering we have very little chance left to win or even tie for conference, I would say the Florida win would have been more important for our program. However, WKU had killed us the last two years and we needed a measure of payback against those guys, especially in a game we were more physical than them for a change. I don't know if I would give that one back.
This year, NO Bowl. I obviously want a quality opponent (both a program we'd get respect for beating and one that has traveling fans). I think each year, considering our circumstances as a program, my opinion of what bowl (from those projected with us as possibilities) will shift. I like the south and the dome in the winter. I'd like our bowl to be fairly easy driving for our fans. If we had nothing else to choose from, that's the year I want the Indy to take us. It's just good to be realistically talking about bowl games for the Cajuns.
At this point as I sell the Cajuns I find a 6-4 second place Belt team that has 3 loses to DAMN good teams---Florida, OK ST, and ASU are very good as shown by their records (yes N TEX is the blink on the radar)-----If we win out, we are a 8-4 second or first place team in the Belt with the same story line of a near upset of a top 5 or 6 placed team in the country----depending on the bowl results we are in a HUGE position of attracting some great recruits to maintain our talent level for another year!!!
