RCAF members had until December 6th to put in their request. Starting on the 7th the ticket office began assigning priority based on RCAF donation levels and started assigning seats. All other groups got in line behind them no matter when they submitted applications for tickets.

The point system that is being discussed is the way to go and is the system used by TAF at LSU and other schools. This will allow for priority to be established by your total contribution to the University and not just certain segments.

I understand the season tickets going to waste if you can't make the games. The RCAF though certainly is an option to help the various programs reach their goals and it gives you and others an oppurtunity at priority seats for post season should you wish to attend.

So really we need all of our fans and for all of the fans to be treated with respect. Yes this process could have been handled better, and yes season ticket holders and rcaf members should have the better seats and first shot at seats, but we do not know all of the facts of when or how many some of these rcaf and season ticket requested their tickets, example if a "casual" fan put in his request the day after the bowl was announced and the rcaf member put in a request last week should the rcaf member be placed before the other person. These are hard issues that I for one would not like to address.
I am thankful that we are going to a bowl that is codusive for our fan base and that the dome will be a sea of red and I hope for an early Christmas present of a UL win this weekend
I do understand your situation and that there are probably many like you; live away from Lafayette and cannot make home games, therefore are not season ticket holders. Hopefully, many of you would still become RCAF members, if even at the lowest level, as this is our primary way of raising additional funds for athletics AND we will not continue to grow unless RCAF continues to grow!

Just to spend a minute to explain the ticket process this year, which IMO was handled fine, maybe not understood by some, but still handled fine. The ticket form had a deadline for PRIORITY seating of December 6th. That meant if you were an RCAF member and/or a season ticket holder, you would have priority over others and could purchase X amount of PRIORITY seats based on your level of RCAF donation. If you ordered more than your allotment you had to make a decision to either split the tickets, or take a non-priority seat designation. All non-priority forms were organized by date stamped on envelope or email.

How could anyone that is not an RCAF member or season ticket holder be complaining about where their seat location is? SHOULDN'T YOU BE HAPPY THAT THERE ARE SO MANY CAJUN FANS THAT WANT TO SUPPORT THE CAJUNS? Especially in light of how poorly other bowls seem to be doing with their ticket sales!

AND, shouldn't you be happy that you are able to support YOUR SCHOOL by purchasing tickets through UL, thereby helping out?

Also...people should realize that RCAF membership is given priority over season tickets. So for a minimum contribution a person can have access and get there tickets assigned to them before season ticket holders and the general public.

Does anyone know what the ratio typically is for ticket sales that are school allotted with walk ups or however else people purchase tickets? I really want to see how much we can expect, a TOTAL amount for us...not necessarily adding in ECU.

Instead of just saying, "I think this many will be in attendance." Is there a way to calculate/guesstimate ticket sales outside of what we were allotted to get a total?

Just curious. I'm too anxious to wait and see how many show up...I wanna know NOW!

4 nights away from NOLA....5 from game time!

First, I don't think I disrespected anyone other than those people I mentioned are looking for the "coolness factor" to rise on UL before they'll grab the rope and start pulling along with the rest of us. Those people are not fans, so it's impossible that I disrspected "a fan".

As for my "loosely connected" comment... I find it hard to believe that people... even those living remote from UL... but are passionate about UL athletics... don't yet understand the importance to UL of having them join RCAF (at the minimum if they are pinched financially). The bowl last and this year are a product of an elevated UL that includes RCAF. It is pretty difficult for people to be members of UL support via RCAF to listen to the complaints of people that haven't joined RCAF.

So someone can make it to New Orleans for the bowl game but cannot afford to join RCAF at $100 a year? That membership gets you 2 priority post season ticket purchase opportunities. And, like I said, RCAF makes bowls possible. Amazing if you ask me.

Yes, I consider people that haven't joined RCAF to be "loosely" connected to UL athletics. I consider RCAF members the tightly connected people. I don't make a distinction between money levels. But, to enter at $100 a year and have privileges in a system? Yes, I think you are loosely connected, by now, if you are not an RCAF member.

I'd love for the bowl ticket to be an easier process. I have the imagination to know how difficult it is. They are trying to accomodate the contributors first... and it simply isn't as simple as people think to get the forms in... all of the charges put through... manage the fallout from that process... and then manage all of the other ticket requests. Even this grand "online" system people are talking about has numerous setbacks. I think it's a testament to their efforts that we've sold in excess of 20k tickets. Something obviously went right.

Personally... and this is just me. I don't consider the first word of a complaint... now that we have RCAF... out of the mouth of a non RCAF member. I can't tell who is and isn't a member. But, if you have an opinion on UL athletics... and you're not a student... you need to join RCAF to have your opinion mean anything.

Sorry... it's just the way I see this. I've been personally confronted by someone that actually volunteers at UL that told me that just because I give money and don't do volunteer work... I should keep "my" mouth shut. I guess it is all in your perspective.

Of course a band wagon fan can be a true fan. Everyone needs something to motivate that first step. So you did insult at least some true fans.

Some folks budget require them to be bandwagon fans. Entertainment dollars to see some of the last of the Stokely, any Baldloss team, is beyond being a fan or supporter, you have to be sick to support some of that. They need other outlets.

I hear you J1M. I'm one of those that think priority seating for a bowl game should start with an RCAF donation of $500. But that is another discussion to have after the bowl game. It's bowl week and I am zoned into getting out of slavery at noon on Thursday and enjoying my Ragin' Cajun Bowl Adventure.
