Glad to see you got back to Houston safely. I agree with you on Hud that he stays engaged with fans, regardless of the ups and downs. I think some knuckleheads helped make too much out of the few people that said Hud "let go of he rope". Hud just messed up some play decisions and that's all that happened. Taggert messed up by not going for it on 4th and 1 last night. I'm sure that's how some WKU fans viewed it. I guess some probably said, Taggert "Gave up the hill" or whatever phrase they use. But in reality, whether that would have won it for WKU... Taggert should have ran it for the first and likely sealed the game for WKU. Of course, it's unthinkable that fans discuss whether play calls were good or bad. We're supposed to just pay money and support... but never criticize.
Good to see you and your son yesterday. When we left the restaurant, there was a OWI checkpoint on Johnson. I didn't get pulled over (just stopped and questioned) but Brick got pulled over and tested. I've never seen a city hold up a main drag like that to do sobriety checks.
J1M, that checkpoint was a mess. Did not know the Brick got pulled over and checked..wow...
Yes, and as that goat thought he owned our artificial grass last night, we charged at him in the final minutes... as our program seems to be capable of doing... and chased that goat back to the hills where he belongs.
Strangely, I had more confidence in our program, being down late, and fighting tooth and nail to win it... than had we been holding the lead and fighting off WKU with our defensive "strategy". I hope I'm not armchair QB'ing too heavy when I say "I've seldom seen a running back run so many times... straight up the middle... without being confronted... in a very long time.
He told them he'd had a few beers earlier... just being honest... and they made him get out... the cop got in with his wife and kid and drove the car into the parking lot. They field tested him and let him go. He told me they were professional about it, and he and I agreed that once he admitted he'd been drinking beer, that they couldn't just let him pull his car over himself. After drinking Makers tailgating, I only had one beer in the stadium. I was bone cold sober after leaving the game and eating again.
Thanks again for your spectacular hospitality yesterday. The gumbo was great. Sorry you are in pain and that really seriously adds to my appreciation of the work you do to come out and put on such a generous tailgate. You're first class, Z.
Thanks Z, and J1M. It was a great time with you guys and I certainly appreciate the hospitality. It was a blast. Glad to hear none of you were given too much trouble at the checkpoint. I don't think there should be "checkpoints" anywhere. It's kinda like Germany in the 40's.
One of the highlites of my day was putting a face to the posts and voice of "The Nathan Pike" great meeting you ---and as far as the regular Eauxers---When you get to be a little older you can say ---You saw the WKU game in one of the most amazing come backs in Cajun history---Chat 2 night!!!
Moten's tackle on second down of wku's last drive was the unsung play of the game. The back was running free and he came from no where to stop him short. Fantastic open field tackle.
Did anyone have a good view of the last play of the game? It looked kinda like a touchdown from where I was sitting. I was worried they would review it. He caught the ball but I guess he was out of bounds in the back of the end zone.
