We did lose one of the doubles matches #3, but only lost one set in the singles matches. At #3 singles returning regular Shaun Ellison lost the first set vs Angel Dargel, but came back to win the 2nd set and to win the tiebreaker 10-1.

ORU lost in the finals of the Mid Continent Conference tournament last year, so sweeping them is a nice win. Especially for such a young team, only 2 of the Cajuns starters from last season are back.

Great job Cajuns. Today is a much stiffer test.

ORU’s Patrick Gulliod and Clemens Geercken teamed together at No. 3 doubles to defeat defeat ULL’s Shaun Ellison and Zach Taylor, 9-7. Louisiana-Lafayette won the other two doubles matches to earn the doubles point.

In singles, ULL’s Dusan Tabak defeated ORU’s Frank Kaehler at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-4. Alex Dargel almost gave the Golden Eagles a win at No. 3 singles but lost in a tiebreaker set to Shawn Ellison, 4-6, 6-4, 10-1.

  15. UL Tennis Opponent: Lady Rebels Host Lady Cajuns

University, MS (CSTV U-WIRE) -- The Ole Miss Lady Rebels tennis team (4-3) looks to get back into the win column today against the Ragin' Cajuns (6-0) from the University of Louisiana.

The contest is set to begin at 2 p.m. at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. However, there is a possibility that the match may be moved indoors to the Gillom Center if there is inclement weather.

"We want to get back into the win column," said Head Coach Mark Beyers after his team dropped a tough match in their last outing against Troy 3-4. "We need a match for some of the people who maybe haven't played that well lately to improve."

The Lady Rebs have been hampered by the injury bug all year long, and still haven't quite been able to shake it.
