They do now. Its becoming the age of the slightly smaller but faster lineman. Either that, or the freaks who can still be 6'6 and 330lbs and still run a 5.0sec-40Originally Posted by Turbine
I felt the same way... gee, a bulldozer doesn't do so well in the 40 either. I heard Fox Sports talking about it and they say that it is one of many tests of a lineman's overall mobility. It can assess how quickly he gets off the snap and maintains his position. I can see it to an extent. I am sure there are big men who cannot do a good 40, but get the job done, and visa versa.Originally Posted by Turbine
I don't think the issue is that smaller, faster lineman are in vogue. There are simply more big men with both size and speed to choose from, and the right combination rules.

According to NFL.com's listing of collede prodays, Cox did not do well at all. According to the write up, the 40's were performed on grass in sloppy conditions and were done on 3/13. Conditions make a huge difference.Originally Posted by RaginCajun77

What peaks my curiosity is that NFL.com also has a proday listed for Louisiana-Lafayette on 4/27 (today), while all other workouts have long been over at other schools. Without having any inside information, my guess would be that maybe the scouts are coming back to workout Cox again as he has been rehabing his injury from the end of last season and would not have been in his best shape during the first one.
Does anyone know any specifics about the workout scheduled/ listed today? ie who is working out, etc.... There has to be a legitimate reason for scouts to come back the day before the draft.
at first i thought this to be a negative thing b/c it seems alot of teams would have their mind made up of who they are going after but maybe this could be good b/c he will be fresh in the scouts mind. Maybe if he is their late for a team who adressed all of their other needs they will take him b/c any coach will tell you that you can never have enough good lineman. If he impresses someone today he may be a steel for some lucky team. Jsut his size is worth taking a chance on. in my opinion.Originally Posted by redcajun
Like I said, that is just my guess. I have not talked to anyone close to the program about it. If that is the reason why they are holding another workout, it would definetly be a good thing. IMOOriginally Posted by crazycajun
Said on KATC tonight that Cox signed with the Bears. He willingly went there...he is now the enemy.

Congrats to all the UL guys for finding a chance. Best of luck to them.
I wonder if Tillman put in a good word for Cox and got him a look-see?
I recommend braces for all linemen, if he had worn them Brandon would have been drafted.Originally Posted by bigearl
