ROUX: New football commitment

He is now on rivals as a soft verbal to the Cajuns. No info. other than height and weight. He is 5'11" 190 lbs. He is not rated and to let you all know JUCO players are rarely rated by rivals unless they are major prospects.

If I remember correctly, Brown and Spann werent rated very well. As far as this commitment goes, do you think its possible that Hurlie Brown brought this commitment over here crom FIU?

Staff has linebacker recruits visiting this weekend. There was a need to bring in one or two JC DB's because Smith,Jones and Accime have not been cleared to practice for Spring. In fact, both Smith and Jones are not progressing well with treatment. There is a concern that they may not be ready for fall. The staff does not want to get caught short in numbers at the CB position.

It's been hard waiting through the dead period and to hear the JC DB and the OC named is way below what I had on my wish list. If it was necessary to go the JC route we should have had better options to choose from. Same with the OC. I'll just have to wait for the coming weekend, I hope we have better success. Any news on the three star DB form Florida, will he be one coming this weekend. Do you have any names for this last visit.

You are absolutely correct. Look at the Saints. I still can't name everybody on the defense and offense side of the ball.

hopefully she has been coached well enough while she was a rising star and I don't have to worry about doing it. You can't teach an old girl new class.

The recruiting process is complex. There are alot of kids out there that are as talented as the "star" rated players, but have lacked the exposure due to size of school, population bases, resources and such. I believe the best one's to assess the ability of individual players are the coachs' at the schools doing the recruiting. Coach Bustle and his staff are doing a great job of recruiting. To find kids with talent, that fit your program, and can qualify is challenging at best. Keep up the good work Coach. We're going to have a Great Year---Geaux Cajuns'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are sooooo RIGHT!!!

I remember a big receiver (about 6'4) from Bunkie that was rated as a 3 STAR who barely ever played.....or the reciever that transferred from Oklahoma St.

Both were non-existant!

Not sure about the transfer but the big receiver was Jordan Jackson who was in the 6'6 range. He never lived up to potential.
