Thread: Indy Bowls scouting UL, ULM, & LaTech

It's been said before that if ULM is an SBC champion, the N.O. Bowl would probably select them to get their requirement out of the way this year. Well, that might not happen now. So, if we have 7 wins, I would expect that N.O. Bowl invite to follow.

If for some reason we are not in N.O., I would much rather play in S'port against a school like SMU, Vandy, or Duke than play in Mobile against a MAC school.

    Not even close.

Although I'd prefer a better opponent, I'd still rather go back to the NO Bowl (or even Mobile). The I Bowl on December 28th is going to be a cold place to watch a game. I'll be there if that's where we end up... but I'd rather New Orleans. If it's a bitter cold (and wet) day in that open stadium... the majority of Cajun fans will sure as heck fondly recall the coziness of the Dome.

“They play their last home games this week,” I-Bowl executive director Missy Setters said. “We’re trying to catch them now, just in case, and we’ll see what happens next week after the SEC games.”

Missy should take a look at a schedule. We play at home next weekend.

The I Bowl committee, being surrogates of Tech, with Tech going elsewhere, would love to put the Cajuns in over ULM. When they meet and discuss which SBC team they'd rather snub, I think ULM is above us on the snub list. Of course, if Sister Mary's College for the Weak of Heart is anywhere near a large city... and has 6 wins... Shreveport will want that monster TV market Sister Mary commands.

First order of business for UL... before contemplating bowls... is to win the next game.
N.O. Bowl should be the ultimate goal unless a larger and more prestigious bowl is calling. Outside of that, I would rather be in N.O. over Birmingham, Mobile or Shreveport any day of the week.

I would rather Mobile only because of in-laws that live there to make a nice little family vacation out of it and fee place to stay. I also like Mobile better but oh well.

    Its been said? By who?

ULM does not get the New Orleans Bowl if UL is available because 42K is a strong memory. This foolishness on the Sun Belt Board is just that. Bowls do not say, Oh Gee, we better take the weaker fan base this year because next year who knows what we might get as champions. Right? Who knows? That who knows could be great or horrible. There is no deep thinking going on in New Orleans, they wan the best fan base this year. Next year will take care of itself. ULM is not bringing 42K, not bringing 32K.

Funny how the I Bowl is considering us now after we brought close to 40,000 fans to the N.O. Bowl last year. Where were they a couple years ago?? Hummmmmmm

ULM can't even bring 20K to Monroe so there's no way they will bring 20K-25K to N.O., Shreveport, Mobile or anywhere for that matter.

And what would make the NO Bowl think ULM'ers would travel well?

Compare their 17k at home against us, in a "rivalry" game, vs our 42k in the dome last year. Is there need to discuss?

Just to clarify, attendance was 42,481. We were not the only people in the dome. We were the main reason but we didn't bring 42k either, if you addin SDSU, plus the tickets they bought and donated to the Marshall faulk foundation, plus corporate, plus just general attendance. We might have had 30k, which is still great. Just don't need people putting Tulane numbers out there.

Well, we did set the attendance record for the N.O. Bowl (by far) with only a handful there from the opposing team.

We can't get 30k to a home game, why do you think we brought 42k to new Orleans?
