Thread: 4-3 front worked for Ragin' Cajuns

  1. Default 4-3 front worked for Ragin' Cajuns

They got away from their 3-4 base and played plenty of 4-3, with great success, in last Saturday's close loss at No. 7 Florida.

I am really glad we switched to a 4 man front. The 3-4 just wasn't doing it, especially since we were not blitzing nearly as much as last year out of it. Either that or we just weren't nearly as effective doing so but regardless, the 4-3 works much better and lets us take advantage of our strengths on the Dline especially since we are somewhat thin at LB now.

We got more pressure on the QB in that one game against a SEC team then we have all year. It was almost jarring to watch.

I really believe it was the biggest adjustment that made the difference.

I also felt a few weeks back that we needed to move Justin Anderson back to the outside. He's our best pass rushing LB by far and he's the only guy who, from that position, can get to the QB. I think he's our best LB overall and we need him on the outside. He should make a case for all conference although I'm sure he'll get snubbed.

This year's winning season and subsequent bowl game will be traced back to this decision.

Man, he is quickly becoming one of my favorite Cajun players of all time.

    LOVE the way he plays.

He is certainly my favorite on this squad and he's been somewhat underrated for a couple of seasons now. When you hear of people discussing our defense, good or bad, you never hear his name. He's got the size to play the run and the speed to play the pass.

The extra time machine on the line paid off huge.

    LOL

I wish I could find the thread where I gave the full definition. Basically I call the UL offensive line and defensive line "Time Machines"

The OL lenghtens time for the QB and receivers while the DL shrinks time for the opponents QB and WR corp.

Here are some past references. . . not that it helps out of context.

These are the guys who could have stole some of the time that allowed the LSU receivers to run down the field and get wide open.
