I thought that might be the case. I told someone on the board yesterday that I would ask Marlin, so I wanted to follow up. Thanks for your info as well.

If he is not cleared to play and the reason is that some coursed he took elsewhere aren't being accepted (I take this to mean he does not have a valid high school diploma) then I expect time alone won't heal this wound. Won't he have to take classes / exams to get proper credit(s)?

I remember a bunch of years back we were trying to get an extra year for Orlando Butler or Blaine Harmon (I think it was Harmon), and we were still talking about this late in the season on whether it would happen or not. It never did and we never saw him play again. I know this is not the same situation, but I hope Soto gets on the court, at some point, whether it is this year or next. he seems to have allot of upside and I would love to add depth to this young roster.

I know it is a different situation because you were dealing with a senior then and a freshman now.

The class was a 9th grade geometry class. The NCAA has already ruled that he can be on scholarship and practice with the team. Marlin said that if he does not play this year he will be redshirted, so he will he have 4 years left. Not being specific to anyone player Marlin did say that team was doing well in school.

In other news Elfrid Payton spoke at the Rebounders Club Luncheon. I am very impressed with this young man both on and off the court. He said he finished last year with a 3.1 and has changed his major from Accounting to Education. He would like to coach when he is done playing. This tell me he buys in to Marlin system and agrees with Marlin's approach.
Every time I hear Marlin speak I become more and more impressed with him. I hope he is here for a long time.

    Geaux Cajuns!
