RCAF VS Alumni Association Membership Enrollment

Membership in the RCAF, if I understand is less than 1500

Membership in the UL Alumni Association is around 7900

Living UL Alumni = over 90,000

Now if you calculate that, it seems pretty dismal considering the per cent of Alum participating in Alumni Assoc. and Sports Funding support.


I heard That Tier One Universities have a minimum of 13% Alumni Support and That is one of the criteria for becoming a Tier One University.

I can't believe we have so many people not caring or they are not being reached out to.

For all that are UL Alumni Assoc Members and RCAF members, keep up the good work.

Students should be able to keep their louisiana.edu email address upon graduation.

UL Alumni Association members should be given one.

Amen to that. If I had a louisiana.edu email address, I would use it exclusively.

How about if T-Bine could be the Idea czar for the university--compile all the great ideas that not only come from here but from other sites as well!!! Love the Alumni idea ---kills a bunch of birds with one stone!!!

I know they began giving one free year membership to the Alumni Association for graduates. That's how I'm joined.

I think there needs to be a greater sales effort in urging people to join the RCAF. It's easy to be fooled into believing that somebody else is going to fund the athletic department to the extent necessary, albeit not realisitc. Given the past, some people doubt if the administration really supports athletics enough. All misconceptions have to be cleared up. The Alumni Association needs to be a powerful arm of the administration to mobilize support and defend its rights as in the denial of the name change in 1984. I'm not interested in crawfish boils.

Other things can help attract support like continued success of the football team to create a vision of another Boise State. An attention grabber like upgrading to another conference would make a statement. Did we try to get into CUSA like Louisiana Tech did? I'm not satisfied that we did. Maybe we did and I don't know it. But every time we get ULL'd and Lafayetted to death on a telecast I get a little more disenchanted with the Sun Belt and think we need to try and alleviate the situation. Can basketball be resurrected?

I don't have all the answers, maybe none of them. But I believe that enough people want UL to do well to potentially attract the necessary following and support. However, that support has to be solicited in a much more conspicuous and consistent manner than before.

I had mentioned in the past that Students need to be made more aware of the benefits of being involved with the university.
I think students should be given incentives to join RCAF. Students might not see a reason to join because they already get into all athletic events without additional charges out of pocket. but, if you offer students some sort of incentive for to join before graduation (maybe $50 a year with while still enrolled at UL) and they see the rewards on and off the field, then they will most likely continue to donate after graduation and hopefully increase their donation amount.

just some ideas on what Student membership could include: invitations to RCAF parties (including the football recruiting bash), window decals, and a tshirt (students love free shirts).

If 10,000 students sign up for the student RCAF membership @ $50 a year, then that's $500,000 more a year to the fund!

besides giving a student a year membership to the Alumni association, i dont think post grad support is promoted very much to current students.

students should be offered the RCAF membership from day 1...during freshman orientation, they should be given the master plan for athletics and show them what their money can directly do for our program.
