I had an oath signed by the LSU football team in 1902 that my grandpa was captain for that year---no drinking, smoking, sex, etc and running every morning----Playing in the 60s we didn't drink during the week and a lot of guys did smoke cigarettes( we also were given uppers to study with for exams)---What are the rules for the football team in regard to alcohol, pot,etc.-------Bankruptcy dude can help me but we had a guy that didn't drink and only smoked grass and had to leave the team for his drug of choice!!!

And based on this it appears you are not really in touch with what goes on these days. Pot is a cultural thing alright, American culture. Pot isn't confined to inner city black kids. The ones who do it, chose to do it. They know it is illegal but they choose to do it. These actions are a product of character, not culture.

I think more generally that those who smoke pot view it the same way you or I view drinking a few beers. While they know it is technically illegal, they see it as harmless. Right, wrong, or indifferent, I think that viewpoint exists. But hey, if you get popped, you have to pay the price, regardless.

I am one of the most conservative people you will ever meet. I do not have a liberal bone in my body and I think pot should never be legal. But here is what I think about these kids who were rasied in certain cultures and pot. When I was a kid I saw my dad several times after church on Sunday light the grill or cook a gumbo put the Saints on and have a beer or bloody bull... Today I like to do the same on my patio you may say its a cultural thing. In todays society several of these kids from certain envioroments see pot being smoked at that family BBQ just as commonly as I saw a Budweiser can being open. It's the way they were raised, it's a very common part of their life, and it's really all they know to no fault of their own. Those who think that just because you give them a scholarship that part of their life will just be erased are fooling yourself. In some cultures an 18 your kid smoking pot is as common as drinking a few beers in other enviroments both would be illegal according to the law but only for one would you be dismissed.

This thread is about a kid breaking rules. Apparently more than once. Whether you think the rules are too harsh or too leniant it doesnt matter. We have had this useless discussion before. No one won the argument.
