Ragin' Cajuns Recruiting class of 2006: Where are they now?

Are these players still apart of the team? Are any of them capable of competing for a starting position next season?

    VERLIN MOORE

Two-time All-State selection for Pompano High's Tornadoes, earning second team honors in Class 2A in 2004 and stepping up to a first team selection following a stellar season in 2005. Finished a six-game hurricane-shortened senior season with 58 catches for 937 yards and 10 touchdowns. In his junior season he had 60 receptions for 1,008 yards and 12 scores earning him the first of what would become two All-Broward County selections. Miami Herald ranked him fifth among receivers in the Miami metro area. Four-year starter at PHS, he helped lead coach Vince Stephens' squad to the second round of the Class 2A playoffs each of the past two years. He is also a starter for Pompano's basketball team and runs on the 4x100-meter relay team.

    CHRIS JOHNSON

Three-year starter at defensive end for Fontainebleau High School and helped lead the squad of coach Larry Favre to the Class 5A state semifinals as a junior. He had 45 tackles, six sacks and three caused fumbles during that season. Was a second-team pick on the All-District 4-5A team as a senior in the hurricane-shortened season for FHS, the state's largest school. The Bulldogs went 4-1 in the regular season. Also participated in track and powerlifting for Fontainbleau, throwing the discus and finishing sixth in the state in his weight class in his first year of powerlifting last spring.

    DAYLON McCOY

Will be making the switch from linebacker to strong safety next year. 150 tackles and two interceptions for a touchdown during his senior season. Texas 3A Defensive Player of the Year. Two-time All-State and two-time All-East Texas. As a senior, was the MVP of District 16-3A and was defensive MVP on the TexasHSFootball.com selections. He was a key part of the Tatum High squad that claimed the Texas state Class 3A Division II title. Made key plays in each of his team's six playoff wins. Ran sprints for the Tatum track team.

    FRANTZ ACCIME

One of South Florida's top defensive backs, made the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel's All-Broward county squad in 2005. Second Team All-State. First Team All-County. Collected 50 tackles, two interceptions and two defensive touchdowns during his senior season. Currently a member of the Boyd Anderson High track team.

    BLAKE RAMSEY

Three-time All-St. Tammany Parish. Two-time All-District 4-5A. In seven games during the 2005 season (lost some games due to Hurricane Katrina), had 57 tackles, 31 solo stops, 12 tackles for loss, 6 sacks and one interception.

    MAURICE ROLLE

Led South Plantation High School in tackles in both his junior and senior seasons, averaging 10 stops per game in 2004 and almost 11 during the 2005 season. Also had four interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. Was a three-year letterman for SPHS. Named All-Broward County second team in 2005 after being named honorable mention as a junior in 2004. Registered 50 tackles, two sacks, four interceptions, three fumble recoveries and nine pass breakups his senior season.

    JOHNATHAN DECOSTER

34 pancakes during his senior year. Second Team All-State. First Team All-County. Four-year starter.

    CLARENCE FULTZ

80 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 4 sacks in shortened senior season in 2005. Averaged 11 tackles per game in his senior year. All-West Bank MVP. All-District. All-Metro.

    SHARRICK MOORE

70 tackles, 3 fumble recoveries and 1 defensive touchdown in his senior season. Second Team All-State. First Team All-County.

    COLIN WINDSOR

68 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 3 fumble recoveries in his senior season. All-District and All-County (junior and senior seasons). First Team Academic All-State. Also played tight end.

I never heard anything about Fultz but everyone else on the list redshirted last year...I would see Windsor and Verlin Moore on campus every once and a while. McCoy is the guy to look out for!!! Accime was grey shirted I believe because of a track injur during his sr year.

If Accime is completely recovered, he will be the real deal!

Whats funny is that through all this c.rap about losing Scelfo to Tech because of an inept administration, we forget that we have some awesome talent in the wings. We were able to redshirt all but 3(I believe) of our incoming freshmen from last year! That is good stuff. thats where you wanna be.

Now, if we can keep Bustle from getting too frustrated with the lack of support from the front office, and rolling out at the first opportunity, we just might be OK!

You are correct about Accime...he was highly recruited by some bigger schools and I wouldn't be against redshirting him so we know that knee is fully healed before he steps on the field.

And it is great to be able to redshirt everyone in the class because it sets u up long term and not just for today. Bustle has the right idea about building a solid foundation... with the foundation built now its time to start building the whole house

Fultz and Ramsey never enrolled in the fall. Ramsey wasn't qualified and nobody knows what happen to Fultz.

    What about this monster...

    Jamarr Thompson 6'8" 330 lb.

"Among the group UL-Lafayette will host will be Evangel offensive lineman Jamarr Thompson, a 6-foot-8, 330-pounder, who is already committed to the Cajuns. Thompson played for East St. John as a junior and began his senior season at the Reserve-based school before evacuating to Shreveport and playing his final year at Class 1A state champion Evangel because of Hurricane Katrina."

"Thompson will be joining one of his former high school teammates — Korey Raymond — after the former East St. John standout enrolled at UL-Lafayette this week with plans to go through spring drills with the Cajuns."

He signed with Tech after changing his commitment from the Cajuns. Tech has the quarter system,it's much easier to get partials eligible.

Any information available on the progress of the red-shirted players who are most likely to be in contentions to compete for a starting position next season?

What about the Fred Davis kid? I heard he was a freak of an athlete with not much football experience, but could be an NFL prototype player.
