Ignore the weather. It's baseball season. To be exact, it's 28 days until UL's baseball squad opens its 2007 regular season, and Cajun coach Tony Robichaux and his staff don't have much time to make amends for what they consider shortcomings from last season. "We were one game away from a championship last year, we want to rectify that," Robichaux said. "We didn't play good enough in the middle of the week. We played poorly in the conference tournament. We didn't get to postseason play. We want to rectify all of that. "When you add all that up, there's a lot of work to do in the next 28 days." The Cajuns, coming off a 39-20 season in which they finished second in the Sun Belt Conference by one game, open their season on Feb. 13 against Nicholls State at Moore Field. I am glad that Robe is finally seeing that mid week games are just as important in the eyes of the NCAA selection committee. I feel we were 1 at most 2 mid week wins from getting an at-large berth. Splitting mid-week games with other in state schools is not exceptable. We should win 2/3rds or better of these games.

I agree. I've felt for years that we used mid-week games to develop for conference and such, which sounds fine, but, unfortunately, the selection committee counts them just as it does all other games. In my opinion, we need to win each and every game possible and not simply kiss off certain mid-week games... using them as learning experiences.

I renewed my Box seats and will be there with the other Nationally ranked Crowd average of over 2000. We need to get the average over 2500 this year!!!

Robe and Schef and Babb and Chris are another gift to this community as they too are underpaid and year in and year out bring it to the table. There has been some down years but the going back to the Freshman line of thinking is starting to pay off and will stabilze the program!!!

God I cant wait to be at the tigue watching some cajun baseball. I love basketball, but baseball definitly takes the #2 in my heart after football.

I am very upset that I couldn't renew my baseball tickets this year. I had to move to the Houston area (Atascocita/Humble area) and won't be in town enough. I do know that the Cajuns travel to UH and Lamar, so I'll be at those. But devastated that I wont be able to see my boys play on a regular basis. I didn't miss one home game last year.

I believe this season will be special!!!

Look me up for that UH game. Are any of the Lafayettonians planning on making the trip to H-town for that one. I'll ask again when the time gets closer, but maybe we can have a gathering of sorts or sit together or something. I might try to make it to a UH game before then to scout the area. Any ideas from thsoe who made the regional trip there a few years ago?

Actually, that isn't a bad idea. It can be a hosting for any coming from Lafayette, and as a gathering of Houston Cajuns who can team up and help with things like Drifference Makers and fundraising and such.

It is a beautiful facility. In the state of Texas, I would rank it a close second behind Rice's facility and just ahead of Baylor. Definitely one of the Top 15 facilities in the country (IMHO). It is situated next door to their athletic complex and fieldhouse (very nice). The UH Sports museum is also in this building.

I remember seeking shelter in the fieldhouse during one of the many rain delays in that regional. And I agree that it's a very nice facility.
