We're 6-5. Runners on second and first, two outs. It's do or die!
Hamilton strikes out with two runners on. We lose! Wow! I can't believe this.
wow is right. hopefully they wake up and finish off this tournament
What's even more disappointing (other than the simple fact of losing to North Texas in general...who are they in the softball world?) is that we had ten hits compared to their six! We left entirely too many stranded on base and those two errors (compared to their none) cost us as well. Good job and all but the fact is we should have taken care of business. If we want to compete with the big dogs, we've got to get some W's. We can't just simply rely on our reputation and history to get us there. We've got to be consistant, no matter our age. But with all this being said, I'm proud of our team, I just know we are not playing to our potential. GEAUX CAJUNS!
Maybe it was the shock of the late-inning situation, since UL's softball team had rarely been pushed in seven previous Sun Belt Conference tournaments.
Or maybe it was a North Texas team that wouldn't go away, despite being 0-16 all-time against the Cajuns.
For whatever reason, it was UNT that was more consistent down the stretch Wednesday afternoon, and now a stunned UL team is in the losers' bracket of the league tournament for the first time in history.
North Texas scored in each of the last four innings, including a tie-breaking three-run frame in the top of the seventh, and held on for a 6-5 upset over the 23rd-ranked Cajuns in the opening round of the Sun Belt tournament at Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
