No reason for the ULM coach to be mad. ULM was selling out to make a play with the Cajuns deep in their own end ... meanwhile the Cajuns were simply trying to drain the time remaining on the clock. One of the ways to do that is run around the end zone (hopefully without fumbling) and hoping that you do not get tackled in the end zone for a safety while leaving time on the clock.
Not my preferred method ... and not Hud's either.
Another is to max protect and toss the ball deep down the field (draining the clock in the process). You send a receiver on the route to help mitigate a potential INT. In this case it sounds like ULM did not have a DB in coverage ... similar to a punt block formation where you send all eleven defenders. ULM did not concede so the Cajuns did what they needed to do in that situation.
