I know do to losing the team may of our players went on to other schools. One was Fred Saunders, who played for the orangemen before a nice career in the pros.

Believe Wilson went to Murray, can't remember the rest.

Didn't Louis Age Sr. go on and play for the Jets in '71?

    Turbine:

THis is great. Has anyone ever did a lis of the major sports and UL athletics who played proffessional or were a metal winner in the olympics or disguished themselves such at Coach hennessey?
NFL, NBA, MLB, WNBA. Hopefully it would include those who went on to another school based on circumstances. Red Cagle went to Army, (by the way he is from DeRidder and Chris Cagle the country singer is a decendant).

One thing they I missed in one of my other posts, Ron Guidry did not graduate initially from U(S)L. So, again if someone compiles a master lists of sports figure, make that they attended here and were involved with our sports programs for a period of time.

That was before my time. All his family lives or is from DeRidder. Chris Cagle, the singer, his Dad, Steve who i went to school with, his uncle, etc.

Merryville, talk to Boomer about that DeRidder suburb. he goes there all the time.

Born in De Ridder, Louisiana, he was one of eight children, including five brothers and two sisters. Cagle was named after an uncle, who in turn was named after the late Bishop Christian Keener of the Methodist church. He attended high school in Merryville, a small community about 20 miles southwest of De Ridder' According to local legend, he was known for getting off the school bus and racing it to school, a race that he quite often won. The football field at Merryville High School is named Keener Cagle Field in his honor.

Turbine, guess we are both right. By the way I have a lot of snow i can sell you. have a great 2010.

This is actually a pretty sweet who's-who quick reference. Acknowledging that you have already spent hours on the project, I have a suggestion. I think it would be even more interesting with a little more detail. Maybe the honorables could be taken out of the column and placed in small font under the main athlete for that year. With the extra column, you could separate the team from the accomplishment.
